me and a friend got a boss hog hog trap and set it with some corn and sprayed it down with scent killer where we touched it, and oiled up the hinges on the door. i have only trapped a couple times on a place far away and every time i got to check it the trap was empty or the hogs were dead. my question is how long does it usually take for a hog to go in the trap, and how quick have yu ever caught a hog in a trap? thanks, Logan

My experiences with trapping hogs is if they are hungry and not trap shy, they will come when they are moving through, as for how quick I have caught, last year my brother in law and I built a round pen style trap with a feeder in it, never sprayed it down and less than 24 hours later we had 3 pigs in the trap. If you are not able to check your traps everyday, you need to make sure they have plenty of shade an I would put water in there as well. Nothing sucks more than pulling dead pigs out of a trap.

keep the trap in the shade and tie the trap door up and let the hogs come and go...Then set the trap when you know you can check it the next day.

I don't trap much because you have to check it every day. If the lady can check it and call you then that works.

This time of year I'll place a stall watering bucket on the wire, the kind that have the plastic hooks that go on the boards of a stall. It's hard to keep them alive for any time right now, we just lost a 300lb boar today just got to dang hot and the old boy was fighting to get out and exhausted himself. If your trap is big enough and you can haul water to it, make a mud hole in the middle just keep adding water everyday.
As far as when they get in there, like said before tie the door open then set it when you know you can check it in the morning. It's hard trapping right now and hard keeping them alive in a trap.

I prefer using no door for a week or so. If the hogs are trap shy, maybe up to 2 weeks. I have caught them the same day the trap was set, but thats a rare exception.

Hek not that long ago mr and a couple of buddies set a trap around 4 pm. Came back like in 4 hrs to chek it and there was a hog in it. We were constantly trapping them twice in a day for like 2 weeks straight.
