If yall will notice, the story says that the COMPLAINT said the dog was wagging it's tail....ppl lie in complaints all the time(especially if they're looking for a payday). If the dog was so friendly then why did the guy want to put it up before the officers entered. This story had nothing from the officers about what happened. Not saying the officers couldn't have been wrong, but the way the story was written was extremely one sided.
I guess I would probably sell every dog in my yard for $330,000!

i have a house dog that i think alot of, i dont think i would sell her for 333000 i know that sounds crazy but i guess she is like my kid and that boy asked them if they would let him shut up his dog so they knew it was a lab in the house

If I have any dog and ask to put the dog up and you shoot it! I understand controling the situation. If they had even found some drugs or anything. I was not there I know there are some LEO's on here and some that have been done wrong by the law. I personally think coming in someone's home they should be ready to handle a dog without killing it. I do wish we had it from the cops perspective though. But even cops make bad decisions because they are human. I have run into good and bad cops myself. But to be fair it was only $175,000 for the dog  I could find a dog or two you could shoot for that. But I have had dogs I would not sell for anything. There really is no right or wrong in this story to me just things to think about. |

That total was so high because of the false arrest and everything else that happened. If they had found dope or any illegal activity we wouldn't even be hearing about this right now. The pd didn't have to pay all of the money for the dog. The officer that shot the dog is paying 2,000 and his supervisor 1,000, that is probably for the dog and the rest of the money if for the wrongdoing by the pd on the search and false arrest.

Sounds perfectly fair to me. The cop had no right whatsoever to shoot the dog if it was in someones home. Not even if it was biting him. If someone busted into my house like they were in charge I would hope my dogs would eat their @$$ up. And if they thought for a second they could shoot my dog they'd be lucky if they walked out of my house. I had a dumb@$$ cop come to my house and try to shoot my very best hog dog because it matched the description of a dog that barked at a lady down the road. I asked him what description that might be and they said it was a yellow dog. I put my dog in the house and told him he better put his gun up or call for back-up. There is no grey area when it comes to going on someone elses property and shooting a dog. I don't care if you have a badge or not.

A badge does not give you the right to just go on someone's property and shoot a dog just because. However if there is a warrant in place then the police have every right to be there and every right to defend/protect themselves with any amount of force necessary up to and including deadly force. The badge doesn't give us more rights, if anything it subjects us to more laws especially where the rights of another are concerned. JMO

They should have put the officer in jail for life for killing that dog if he was not bitten . If anybody shoots a police K-9 they will have murder charges slapped on them no matter what . I know a guy that had police all arround his house looking for a criminal . He went to check his backyard and the officer released the K-9 which bit him. He hit the K-9 several times and was arrested. This guy did nothing wrong he was never told not to go outside. He never recieved one penny but has scars and a crimminal record for hitting a police dog.

Gotta play devil's advocate on this one. Ive been a LEO for almmost seven ears and been through just about every crappy situation imaginable. That being said you can be on someone's property forall sorts of reasons whether they like it or not, with or without a warrant. I work in a pretty big part of the county, thats unincorporated, i get all the animal calls on my shift since most of the guys/girls are yankees and have no clue. I have never had to shoot an animal, whether it be a big bull on the highway or a large AB at the front door of the wrong house. That being said I have no intention of getting dog bit. Ive been there when dogs were shot, and immediately rendered aid ( i keep some basic dog care stuff in the squad car). but the bottom line of this story is A. there isnt much info, B theres no LEO side of the story. So lets try not to jump to conclusions, cause deep down inside whos gonna stand there and get dog bit? JMO
