So after watchin' my Whaler dog last wknd I figgered it was about time to try hunting him by hisself and see what happened... HE DID AWESOME!!!   Shocked Grin   .... I'm not gonna lie to yall, of the 4 dogs I kept out of that litter, he's been the slowest dog to start(production wise) of all the dogs... I was real careful with him until now, not lettin' him hunt too much till he matured a bit... he's defenitely the roughest one of the bunch... but EXACTLY the type of rough I was hoping for!!!!

My normal huntin' partner Lee was tied up skinnin' out a big gator he got, so I called up my "junior hog apprentices"  Grin and we made a round early this morning on a small piece... I brought Whaler and Bucho, and Seth and Micah brought my old Chub dog... who is turning into one of the most productive bitches I've owned...

Kicked the Chub out first, just before daylight, she steamrolled into a big bayhead, heard one bark, then the Garmin fell treed... not a sound other than that...   Undecided Grin  We tracked to her and she had a solid little boar caught in some heavy palmettos, dude never made a peep!  Tied him up so we could barr him later and went to the next spot to drop Whaler...

I like makin' the whippersnappers do the work... I could get used to this  Grin

Rode to another corner of the property, kicked Whaler out and he B-lined for a big palmetto thicket... heard a good hog break and run and then a TRULY BEATIFUL SOUND.... WHALER WAS BAYING!!!  Grin  .... LOL, I've been prayin' he'd bay at some point... turns out he had a group bayed up... a BIG boar, and some sows 'n shoats... As they were chattering away, we eased in with Bucho... Cut him loose about 50yds and the cockroaches started scattering!!!  Grin  Whaler mugged a 100# sow, Bucho ran right past Whaler and his pig... eye on the big boar... who was in high gear headed for the property line...   Undecided Grin  Pulled Whaler off, turned the sow loose and sent him the direction Bucho went...  He blew outta there for about 15 minutes with ol' Bucho before they both came draggin' ass back in...  Cheesy

Kicked Chub back out and she rolled out into a strand and caught another lil' boar in less than 30 seconds....  Shocked Grin Tied him up, and moved on!!!

Kicked Whaler back out at another spot, he caught another little sow 'bout fifty pounds, turned her loose and he suddenly started huntin' quite a bit deeper... this sucker has defenitely caught gear!!!  Grin  ... hunted him back to the truck, ran Chub one more time and caught two more little boars...

Whaler and Bucho... they HATE each other...  Grin ... as long as I'm around they've learned to "tolerate" each other though  Wink Grin

First boar when we came back to barr him, Seth, Micah with the Chub

I don't like gettin' my hands dirty... soooo.... get on it boys!!!  Grin

"What you jumpin up the tree for sissy?.... oh $hit... here he comes..."  Grin

Just a fun hunt, got a glimpse of what I have to look forward to today!!!

Lol thats funny.  Good to see a pic of it!!  Seen that once before except the guy had his highly trained catch dog on a lead and the bulldog was causing him not to be able to climb as far as he wanted!!  It happened in Lufkin in some thick trees full of briars.  Funny stuff wish I could of got a pic!!  good hunt

Well good for Whaler,....I know you've had high hopes for him bud,....I'm happy that he's turning out to suit you. If I had someone to take me hog hunting when I was those boy's age, well, it would of been quite a different outcome for this ole' boy. Glad you had a good hunt Noah....thanks for sharing it.
