Ok I will admit that I am in love with chainsaws. I really like the ditch bank blade for clearing stuff fast but there is something about that chainsaw. I don't even care what I am cutting or how hot it is. I was told what was left of a down tree had to go. So I grabbed the Stihl and went to cutting. I did not even notice the 107 degrees or whatever it was until I did not have anything left to cut. Then it was too hot to move the wood until dark Grin Am I the only chainsaw lover around?

On another note it appears someone put straight gas in without mixing. The shop said it was not worth fixing. But I got a low budget right now so I would like to know if anyine has rebuilt a Stihl engine. Is it the parts or labor that is too much? I bet he was right that I should just buy a new one but I got other things I need but I have to have a chain saw ready to go so I don't have some tree left in the yard for a month before I take the saw in.

Same here I have a side business selling firewood. I don't make a lot when it's all said an done from it, but man I love just getting out there and hammering down with the chainsaw. Let me know if you figure out what parts you need. I have a lot of scrap parts laying around. I bought a dozen stihl  saws last year that were all busted up. Salvaged what I needed and the rest is in the attic so its possible I have what you need.

Yeah I like chain saws but I like huskavarna more.  They seem to run smoother if you use them for long hours you don't get as fatigued because of the vibration.  Never rebuilt a motor rebuilt a carb once.  Idk but if it is smoking change the rings and use it till it goes to smoking I'm betting the cilinders are scared but aught to be able to use it for a while maybe.  I bought mine from a pawn shop that leaks a little chain oil and got them to give me a heck of a deal because of it.  If you do get one from the pawn shop check the little metal gard on the inside of the chain cover for wear is a pretty decent gauge of use.

My guess would me the cylinders, rings and pistons. I guess I will have to Google it and see what gets messed up. I have never put straight gas in a two stroke. I bet I know who did. The shop got it running but said it would not idle so they turned the idle way up. It just dies and I restart it now. But he said it could go completely any time. It is not like I use it everyday but I need it to work when I grab it. I usually have to get something done fast.

I rode a huskavarna dirt bike once. It was real nice. Maybe when I am forced to get a new one I will go with Husky. I got a deal on this one and it has been used and abused but it would still be working if I had not let someone borrow it. I don't feel like accussing him and getting into it over a chainsaw. He is a good guy for the most part. I just won't let him borrow any two stoke again

J.prince do you have parts for the 025? 42 mm bore 32 mm stroke engine. I emailed Stihl to find out what I will have to replace. I will stop by another shop and ask Monday if I don't get an answer.

stihl 20" farm boss...can take a licking and keep on ticking. The main thing is to change the spark plug every now and then and mix the fuel correctly.

If you have an old stihl you might ought to fix it rather than buying a new one. I ran a logging business for some time and went threw three brand new stihl 660's within 6 months. The piston are junk. Now the old 066 was one tuff saw hard to beat an old stihl but my opinion the new ones ain't worth a plug nickel. I still own a saw and miss telling timber, running chokers, bucking a log, skidding too. Something about that giant crash in a silent forest makes you feel good. I run husqvarna saws after I went thru the stihls. The older husqvarna is about the same story as the stihl craftsmanship is losing ground however, they are leaps and bounds ahead of stihl today. Try a Dolmar! It's a German made saw cheaper than both stihl and husqvarna. husqvarna. They are the kind of saw a professional needs and requires.

I love running a saw too. I used to sell firewood and there was something about being in the woods with a saw. I would find a different shop it would be worth fixing it.

I'm in Alabama. Google Dolmar chainsaw I don't.know a lot about the weekend warrior size saws but the pro series dollars are great super fast rpm's and good horsepower. I run a full chisel skiptooth Oregon chain I can lean on her and doesn't bog down. I've had it two years prolly.has over a thousand hours and only thing I've changed is the sprocket twice. They are two hundred dollars cheaper than stihl for a comparable saw. Husqvarna dealers are starting to carry both. They are new to America hut Germans have been running them for a long time.
