I dont mean to sound rude by no means but its our faults for not keeping up wuth whats going on legally in this sport and state i have some cop buddies down here that i talk to from time to time hood hunting is almost illegal also new hoghunters r popping up everyday and r not respecting land or landowners a couple months ago one of my honeyholes got shut down cuz someone ran his cows thru a fence theres been sone cows ears tore up and stuff like that we have to stand up for our rites and the landowners and put an end to disrespectful hunting or its just gonna get worse

The law already passed. If you dont have written permission yer prolly gonna get a ticket. Thats half why ive stopped huntin. Ive been huntin between altus and marietta fer 8+ years and last year was the worst. Too many idiots round here. So if yall need some good dogs i got some.

I talk to a friend lastnight and he said the first time a land owner turns you in it will be a 1000 dollar fine and then the second time you will get a bigger fine and loose you hunting license up to 5 yrs and guns or anything else you have.

I hunt hogs but I also own a ranch my family has been ranching since 1906. How many times have we said if I get cought going across a fence I will just say I was going to get my dogs. I love to hunt hogs and lived off of the meat for years but my cattle business comes first. I have to feed and raise 6 kids and I am tired of road pitchers. Every time an illegal dog causes damage I loose money. I don't mind legal hunters. But I am glad for the protection.

" But I am glad for the protection. "
Scott that's what was at the core of this bill, I liked the ability to just go get my dogs, but sorry people abused it and used it for a backdoor way to hunt a place and not get in trouble. Most any rancher will not blow up on you if your really trying to just get your dogs and couldn't make contact with them, but a 5 min phone call is easy if you know the land owner, if it's 3 am that's one thing, but If you can then you should try to make contact with the owner. I understand both sides of the deal. Perhaps a short visit with surrounding land owners before you hut is the answer

for sure ask all the land owners around you. I have 7 square miles i can hunt and in that I have one guy that told me I couldn't hunt his property so that's when I went into detail to let him know I have permission on all the places around him and if I did have a dog come over could I go get him. he didn't have a problem with that thank goodness. Written permission is always best just incase some other doggers get to trying to ruin things for ya and incase the law gets involved just another way to cover your butt.

The laws have to physically catch you on the property to write you a ticket we went through this with someone stealing some stuff off our lease . We caught them on the property and called the sherriff he said it's our word against theirs and nothing he could do. So now I trespass on their land when I deer hunt I figure I can be out of there before the cops catch me on the land.

What's at the heart of the bill is money. If I get hurt on your land your insurance has to pay. (not that I would sew but lots of people will) same thing that is at the heart of the seat belt law.
This law was active two years ago I believe it was. You had to get written permission every time you we t on someone's land. I did not know it was active again. May have modified it and taken that out.

And it is a shame how many people abuse places with or without permission.
I have pulled calves, fixed fence, called and warned of a sick cow and put cows back in there respective places, ect... while hunting. We should take care of each other and serve one another as friends & neighbors.

I agree with that, I have done the same but its the people that you ask to get your dogs off and say no that piss me off, ill be the first to tell you like it or not im gonna get my dogs with permission or without, I am not gonna take anything I just want to get my dogs but some land owners around here say no. Plus at three in the morning im not gonna call someone and ask them to sign a paper so I can go get them. I try to ask all the people around where I hunt but sometimes thay may live in ark or tex and can't get#, I don't no how many times we have ran hogs for miles and not even no were we are, how do you call or get permission to get your dogs then? Im betting most of us wont, and are not gonna walk another 4 miles back at 3 am and sit in the truck tell 8:00 to call someone.

Judging by the posts it seems the law is a needed one. Stay off property you don't have permission to be on.

I havent seen any body get fined 1000 dollars yet. But the only people ive heard get introuble around here is hood hunters. And Im not trying to pick on all of them. I Like to see a good hood dog work every now and again. But the problem is it makes it so much more tempting too trespass when your hood hunting. U think you can get in and out real easy but when they run the hogs 2 miles opposite of the truck and you cant get close with the pickup your alot more likely to get caught. and when one landown starts raisin hell it seems like more jump in with him down at the coffee shop.

got nothing against you folks but it aint hood huntin. Cattle rustling started this deal. Blaming others n barkn orders? Grow up and play nice. Not all huntrs trespass and all cowboys r rustlers. And yes i hood hunt and no i dont hunt w o permission. U could always b shot n them not call u in.

Well just called a new land owner that has land all right in the middle of the 2ooo ac that I hunt he don't no me or even live here, I told him that I wasn't gonna hunt his place and all I wanted to do was get my dogs and he told me not no but he'll! No, so I called a cuzin of mine that happens to be the game warden here and he said the new law says if the dogs or any livestock go over on someone else and the land owners say no you can't get them, there is nothing the game wardens or sheriff can do you can't get your dog or livestock, you can try to call them out or drive off that's the only thing you can do. Other then hope thay come out. Don't even matter if the livestock is in a bind or injured. This is b.s.

Boy's I don't know what to say but i promise if one of my dogs are in a bind i will be going in to help with or with out permission. all we can do is pray and hope that god will always be their for us when we need him in a time like know. but the land owner where i hunt don't care long as dogs don't get there livestock and that people don't cut fences. and i thank alot of it is do to people cutting fences and shotting livestock these is not going to help stop people from shotting from the road or stealing livestock it is going to hurt the true hog hunter and the coonhuntersin the end.
