Me and a friend took a quick hunt this morning. Passed an old fellow that helps look out for the place we were hunting and invited him to come along. (he is full of crap and pretty good intertainment
). We pulled in where we usually park and turned loose. We sat and talked with the old fellow for about thirty minutes when we hear the dogs fire up down in the swamp just about out of hearing. We head out to them with my friends catch dog Pete and a nine month old pup (littermate to my little female) out of his old catch dog who is layed up rite now. We also had along three bay dog pups who all made a good effort. We get down in the open cypress swamp and see the old dogs and pups had about a 200# boar bayed out in the open. I sent in Pete and he cut loose his young bulldog behind him. Hog tried to make a break for it but they were hanging off of him like leaches before he could get moving.
Young bulldog caught like an old pro. He had previously only seen one shoat when he was younger and had one horse catching incident.
Baydog pups did good as well, they were an airedale of my friends, my haint pup and a little female 1/4 airedale 1/4 english 1/4 plott and 1/4 curr that he had originally raised and gave away(large litter). Her owner hadnt ever done anything with her and I was able to get her.
Pups can be agrivating but I sure like to see them learn and get it done.
