I have always been fascinated with the weather and the force that mother nature can have. It is something to see offshore even though I get aggravated about not getting to work.
I am currently on a DSV off the cost SE Louisiana riding out this storm.
Sustained winds at 50 mph. Seas are in the 14 feet range with an occasional 17-18 footer! wahoo!!!
The forecast in our area is calling for 20-25 footers with occasional 29 footers! I don't think it will be fun anymore by then since half the boat crew is already laid up with sea sickness. lol
Wish I could send some of this rain to Texas!!! O well. At least I will get a chance to catch up on many weeks of threads on ETHD!

Thanks for the well wishing guys.
Matt, the boat is not small at 220 feet but we just took a set of 35 foot waves over the bow and the captain said "ok thats it"!
We are headed for protected waters SSE! I have requested the Florida keys! lol.
dub.........I love to fish but not in 50 mph winds with 30 footers coming over the bow! lol
How was the dove hunting? Sorry I couldn't make it but thanks for the invite!

35ft swells i'd be pukin my guts up !!! stay safe !!! 2/3 of the crew is!!! Its hard to watch. in 25 years of working offshore, I have never been sick thank God! I just put on a dramamine patch to be on the safe side. Once you get sick there is usually no turning back. I was going to post some video but I came down to my office from the bridge to find my laptop on the floor up against the wall. I should have secured it better. Glad I have my Ipad out here! |

6-7 years ago we went about 20 miles out from galveston on a 40' sport fisher and got caught in bad weather. I swear the boat pointed straight up and down a half dozen times, There were 8 of us and only the captain made it back without blowing chunks, It didnt start for me till we were in calm waters and could see land, Hope you get though without gettin sick it's rough!!

They were in worse shape than we were yesterday! I heard the hauled butt to Pascagula this morning. Wish we were too. I need some dry land. Enjoy that couch buddy! Looks like you are going to be there a while! |

That storm cancelled my fishing trip to Calcasieu Lake but hopefully it will send rain to all of us that needs it. It just sucks to make plans and they get cancelled at the last minute. Glad I'm not in the gulf on a boat, I know I would be sick!!!!!! Hopefully ya'll can get to safe waters.
