After being being broke into and robbed a few times. We now have a couple of yard dogs that will circle and bark aggressively if they don't know you. The electric company sent us a letter requesting us to have a meter that can be read by radio. At no cost to us..... as far as I know. Seems like a good idea, maybe. Do any of yall have a meter like this, or have recieved the same request? Just wondering.

Hahahaha, ours sits on the side of the house not facing the road. But the idea of them not having to come in our yard when we aren't home is nice. I just hope that the new "meter" doesn't cause our rates to go up.

that meter box can also b shut off at any time by wireless means. its a good idea, but its giving them more control over ur pwr. its up to u, but if it were me, i wouldnt let them install it. yaw ust hav a good relationship with the pwr company. iv heard about times where they couldnt read the meter, sent a letter telling the consumer to keep the dog/s on a fence or they will shut pwr off at the main pole if the owners didnt comply or allow the meter to be read.

One day I was at home but I didn't call the dog back quick enough and our catahoula got pepper sprayed. Hahaha, I can tell you this...... don't try to wash pepper spray off with a water hose. It almost dropped me to my knees because I couldn't breath either. So I turned the dog loose and he drug himself all over the yard until he wiped it all off on the grass.  Cheesy

Dinah, i've been on one of them meters for a couple years now...They converted our whole community....I haven't had any problems with ours but did hear of a couple people getting outrageous bills for the first month or so.....Think they had to fight with the electric co. a little to straighten it out....

Thanks for that info. I try to keep my elec. bill around 200. If its much higher, I will flip out on someone.  Cheesy
