Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog... A hunting dog is born not made...

what I would like to see in the baying curcuit is for the dog handler to push the hog once to see if the dog has what it takes to stop the hog...Some dogs will get disqualified for catching and others will not try to stop the hog...

I hate that phrase "luck of the draw" If you put together an even set of hogs it doesn't matter, everyone has to bay the same type of hog each round.. but back to the question... some of the dogs running now that are the most consistent... Gus and Amos (Jake Lorcaino) Sadie, Patches, and JR. (Jr. Bradford) Burt and Scar (Teddy Tabor) Jupiter (Tripple R Kennels) Jose (Mark and Heather Green) Redman (Russ Bryant) Bear (Pop Gohagan) Comet ( Kathy Joyner) Fat A$$ (Logan Whipple) Sambo (the Fowler Brothers) That's not all of them by any means but its more about the dogs that can repeatedly bay solid bays over and over again on several different types of hogs... Reuben, a long time ago if you went to a bay in the Georgia area and drew a set up hog you would have to move the hog atleast once to score a perfect...

i like the way nalc [usedto do it ] weren't no hog wranglers in the pen with you just you and your dog and you could move the hog all you wanted thats before all them nancy boys started cryin they didn't want there dogs a-bayin with a loose hog COME ON !!! how you gonna have an a-bay champion dog on a penned up hog

Well I have to say I agree with kaycee there is no luck of the draw unless the hogs r very un even , I feel a good baying is good hogs that is even that is the number 1 key to a good bay but, I have no problem baying some sure enough bad hogs if everyone baying on that same type of hogs . The point im making is that A good dog should be able to bay any type of hogs , We have not been doing this a long time but it doesn't take anyone a long time to figure out there is a big diffrence in wood dogs and bay pen dogs, and every dog kaycee name r great bay pen dogs , but there is alot more out there!!!

Good dogs are catchy so if your hog doesn't fight it will be caught so luck is the draw of your hog at uncle earls I seen lots of good dogs quit even jr bradford had a dog quit so people that know his dog it just take the right hog to break a dog people that don't think so I invit u to skippers pen with big nasty he's a dog killer hope your dogs not rough

I saw alot of dogs catch out on weak hogs too...that's what we mean by even hogs, if everyone bays the same type of hogs it takes the "luck of the draw" away.. Not all good dogs are catchy imo either, I don't think I've ever seen Bear or Comet catch out and they have won a pile of bays.. How many times have you caught out with Jupiter Tripple R? This is just my opinion, there is a big difference between a rough dog and a catchy dog!!

Some places are purty iffy to me...

every bay thats been put on here has had an even set of hogs used for each event and each round,,you may not like them but everybody in that round will bay that type of hog...you also have a set of rules posted so you know what you're being judged on,,keeps it fair for everyone involved.. I can't speak for all baypens but I can tell you that I saw the set of hogs that Triple R brought to a benefit bay in june and they were even...it stands to reason if they brought an even set of hogs to a benefit bay for someone else that they are going to have an even set of hogs at their bay..they have also posted a set of their rules just about everywhere you can...betting its going to be fair..

Yes , i have been to these little back yard bays and no the hogs are not even , but I will say this I have a dog name Moe Money and yes every one knows he will catch a hog if shows him no respect , for example if the hog runs and he has bit him 3 to 4 times and that sucker dont stop running well yes he is a caught hog . but if the hogs are rough but will turn around and fight him off like they r suppose to be yeah he will and can bay with the best of them he was one of the ones that place at uncle earls and i promise u , Moe money and molly didnt get a set up hog . same way for shiloh she never got a set up hog her hog ran the whole entire time but she tied with red man and the puppy kelly we had she place and she didnt get a set up hog and we had somemore that place my point is a even set of hogs doesn't have to set up to be a good set of hogs as long as they r respectful when that dogs bit his rear he turns around and face them . and there is nothing better to me than for that hog to be running and them dogs bit that hogs rear and that hog back up in that corner and puts up a fight thats fun to watch .
I have said this before it diffrent strokes for diffrent folks am i right kaycc?

That's right Triple R.. You can't control what everyone else does, all you can do is your best to make it fair and honest when your names attached to it.. Mo Money is soo much fun to watch... What are the top ten dogs to watch out for in your neck of the woods? Big Chris, when you gonna throw some of them "woods" dogs of yours in the bay pen?
