We decided to take advantage of this little cool front so we loaded up the dogs and headed to the woods with Sonny Butcher to see if we could catch a hog. We dropped the dogs at around 7pm. We had Red, Foot, Sweet Pea and two of Sweet Pea and Foots pups, Camo, and Buckshot. Since they haven't had much of a chance to stretch their legs in a while we turned em all loose. They all burned off into the woods.

We let them get about 3/4 of a mile away and then we headed to them to pick them up before the got on the neighbors place. Picked them all up and they were hot and thirsty so we headed to a little creek that runs through the back of the property to let them get a drink. When we got there, all of the dogs lit up and we could smell a boar hog. So once again, we put them all on the ground, mostly to do a little puppy training. The dogs ran down to the creek and were zig zaging every where.

Finally ol' Foot struck out in the woods and in a minute we heard him.  Grin  Both pups and Red and Sweet Pea headed to him. The pups were in the lead. As soon as the pups got there, we heard a comotion and a yelp. We figured that one of the pups just got schooled. Not long after that, the older dogs arrived and joined the bay.

We knew it must be a good one because Red was baying too!  Shocked  All of a sudden one of the pups showed back up at the ranger.  Angry  We figured that it was the one that just got schooled. LOL  Cheesy  Any way, we loaded him up and headed to the bay. We were walking the catch dog in and the pup took off and re joined the bay. We got close enough to see that it was a pretty good boar. The bay broke and they stopped him again about 30 yrds away. We sent the catch dog in and sealed the deal.

This hog isn't the biggest or baddest hog we ever caught but he put up one heck of a fight. He tagged four of our dogs pretty good. We filmed a little of the bay, but apparently I cuss like a sailor when we catch a big one so I didn't post the video.  Cheesy We were kind of suprised, the hog weighed 213lbs. We must be gettin old cause that thing felt like a ton! Huh?

Me and James   ... and yes that is a machette. James forgot to bring his knife. LOL

Well good for y'all Dinah,....I'm glad somebody is out hunting. That's a good boar hog seems to me. Glad your dogs did good and hope the pup that got 'schooled' didn't get it too badly. I finally found some hog sign yesterday and put out some corn on it....hope it pays off. I'm gonna go in day or so, on duty tomorrow so I can't go then...maybe Monday. That machete cracks me up.

Thank you. The pup that came back is fine. The dogs that stayed took a little bit of a thrashing but they will be okay too.  Smiley  I hope you get on a good one. Keep us posted and let us know how it turns out.

Lips Sealed Yea, the machete was kinda ghetto!  Cheesy
