One of my good friends, an old rancher I hunt with, brought up the idea of tryin' to get the indian tribes(Seminoles in our case) to open up a market for it.... since they are their own boss basically, why not?  Sure would be good for everybody in the long run...

It sure would help to keep the dog food off the market.

Yes sir, I would hit the sale barn wide open. Dont even have to buy em up here, just leave your trailer unlocked, and they will load them for you.

That's a tough one... as much as I love horses...  it'd be hard for me to carry that first load to the plant.... but I know I could do it... better off dead than where a lot of 'em are at currently....

The Osage tribe brought up the horse slaughter thing last year and the Dept. of Interior shut them down on the grounds of it being Illegal outside of there terr. so they can not allow Non-Indian owned horses to be brought into " Indian Country " with the fore though and intent to processed and any " Indian owned " horses slaughtered would have to remain in " Indian country " and could not exported to other areas for commerial sale, It is just the same as Game Chicken fights here unless the tribe owns on paper all the roosters and those same roosters are raised and kept on there land there can be no fight, Also the state will arrest any one knowingly transporting game roosters into " Indian Country " with the intent to fight, I'E. Dubbed combs ect.    Casino gaming falls under a set of rules so it is allowed. I spent to many years working and studying Indian country law and it will never happen so don't get your hopes up, sorry to say

It sucks, the three huggers fought to close down the killer sales around here, now the horses are suffering for it. it 100% back fired on them and now where are they to clean up the mess they created, horses have no bottom dollar now, people have them who can not afford them, once starved they dump or give them away. My dogs will eat some horse meat this winter, just not from the sale barn is all cause there cheaper than sacked feed. I wish the AQHA would have spent some of that money they got from me for years and beat that killer horse bill, I'll never send them another set of papers of a red cent because of there piss pore efforts in this deal

Noah,  are you talking about human grade horse meat or animal.  There are some " horsey heavens"  Grin in florida for animal grade meat.  I don't think human grade meat would work due to the animal rights people but you can buy horse meat for around 50 cents a pound. And this is for animal consumption only.

Wish we could sell horse meat and or buy it in restruants, its sweet meat and yummy!!!!  Mix 1 hog to 1/4 fat horse for sauage and burgers or just send the horse to the custom processing plant and have it cut up like a beef, huge steaks and omg its delicious meat, way better than beef or hog for sure if its fattend 90 days on corn in a feedlot, I dont know what the deal is with we cant eat Ol Paint, be sure a lot better than whats going on now, people drive out to remtoe area and dump them to starve to death for water and food,
