Awesome story bother! It's all worth it when you finally get one that's gotten away, especially to pay back a little retribution! Good hog and even better dog work getting it done.. RIP Patrick

nice story and nice hog, but why in the world dont you guys carry a pistola when ya hunt? i hunt to kill hogs  and sometimes a gun means the difference between a hog gettin away or wreckin or killin dogs or even hurtin a human bad. again great story  and hog

x2...its a helpless feeling to see the dogs take a beating and the hog walks off...the pistola is plan b

Well way to go Rain!!! Always have said that what goes around comes around and sometimes we live long enough to see it. Glad you got him Matt....you must be a very proud man, .....sounds like this old hog had some hard bark on him.

That is a hex of a deal right there.  I know you was pulling  your hair out trying to get back to that hog .  I know how them dog killers are I hunted one for a yr and a half myself and it sure was nice when I got to cut his head off .

Thanks fellas..
The guy that came and helped me out was a little shaky at first but he loved it, he's ready to go again. His yarddog just showed up there at his place about 2 years ago and he's been there ever since. He lays on the porch most of the time and watches his place for him.
The bulldog was young and got stuck pretty good but it was no excuse for her not catching or at least trying to..
Rain and Tiny only had a few nicks, they stayed back and didn't pressure him too much and I was glad of it..

I have thought about carrying a pistol just for an emergency and may start one day..
But I hunt to catch and tie hogs. Shooting them just ain't the same to me.
