Best all around dogs for me. The right strains have grit, intelligence , speed and cold noses that rival any other breed of hunting dog

Heres mine, cur side was linebred and so was the plott I believe. He was a late bloomer, didnt turn on til about 18 months but is making a damn fine dog for me now. Good nose and bottom. A lil whiney behind a hog but is always the first on a hogs nuts when it breaks bay, and a smart gritty type of dog. Catches with the bulldog.

Yes sir, Boarninja had a littermate sister he gave to a buddy of his that from what I hear is turning out to be a good dog also. I was gonna cull him but didnt have anything else to run with Bob and David, I still threaten the dog but each trip he earn his food

A friend that I hunt hogs and work cattle with has raised and used some cur/plott crosses that were really good dogs when used on hogs or on cattle. Several people have gotten pups and used them on hogs or on cattle and been very happy with them. The crosses were from curs and plotts that he used that suited him; I think that is part of the reason for the good results. Some of these dogs look like crosses but some look like curs ( the mother of the pups was a plott).

My cousin got a plott/cur gyp. She dang good dog after she gets the hearding cattle part over with that usually takes 15 minutes. She usually medium to long range. Will be nose to nose catches with catch dog. Stays with a runner and is dead silent on track. Good dog except the hearding cattle part

This is Zig on the left (BMC/Plott) and Soka on the right (UKC Plott). They are both tight mouthed, short to medium range hunters with excellent noses and bottom. If they strike a hog and it breaks they will stick with it until they find it or are about to fall out. Zig is a very rough dog that will catch anything under 150 or so lbs and Soka is not unless there are other dogs caught then she will help a little. I haven't hunted behind a ton of real good dogs but the hound/cur crosses have worked for me and have been some of the best Ive hunted behind.

I have a plott mountain cur b#tch that I like very well. I bred her to a Parker cur & kept two pups which r starting to turn on pretty good. They would be along further if I had them in the woods more. That's kinda hard with my bum leg right now.
