Matt, Chris, Mandi and I headed out to Waller County this morning to hunt with Mr.George and Mr.Harvey on his ranch. About 20 minutes into the hunt the dogs bayed this big sow in a creek bed. Got her tied and rode around for a couple more hours with no luck. Good morning to be in the woods on a beautiful piece of property. Chris winching her out of the creek...  Matt and Mandi...  |

Good hog!! I guess it's better to ride for a couple of hours than too go a couple of days,"LIKE MY SELF" with out hearing a bay!!  Listening too the dogs 2/14/09 was "music to my ears"!!! |

12:22 am feb 16th
We just got home! Headed west to have lunch with a friend after the hunt. Ended up making a purchase we've been hoping about for weeks. Drove even further west to pick up our new dog and decided at the last minute to go ahead and make another evening hunt. The dogs struck at 3/4 mile out (according to the garmin) so we headed their way. When we got within 300 yards, we had to go on foot. Got in there only to hear a huge group of hogs rallying. I have to say that we all got the goosebumps when we heard them all in the dark! We had 5 people, only three flashlights (remember we only planned a morning hunt) and one catch dog. In goes Tyson, bay breaks, hogs go all around us. Dogs bay up again about three hundred yards out. Tyson gets there and we get a 100 lb or so boar in a creek with sheer cliff style banks. Once the hog was stuck, we had to hook dogs to a leash and haul them up the bank one at a time. Then, three of us got hoisted out of the creek with a leash. We hunted a little more in the dust bowl, but no more luck. Two of the dogs hadn't hunted in three months because of pups (one was still nursing a 6 week old litter back at the house). We decided to call it quits for the night. It was a good short hunt for those out of shape dogs that was productive and not too taxing.
We got up yesterday morning at 4am. I'm now tired and am heading to bed.

With the dog y'all picked up, I'm sure it was worth the long day. Can't wait to see her and her momma in the woods. |

Krystal, Chris's Brandy! Mandi may try to claim her, but I will just remind her who wrote the check  Besides, Mandi already has Lizzie and that old, bald fat catchdog, Meathead. It's my pack that needed the help.... |

BTW, Chris' Brandy has been hanging out with me because she likes to go "hunting" in the office. Today she experienced Starbucks, and had taco bell for lunch. We are having to figure out where to stash her and the greyhound while we are building out kennels for them.

Nice sow..
i went out yesterday after having a couple of weeks of dry runs and had a 75 pound sow caught in a pond..
pretty fun catching it in freezing cold water lol.
