We lost ole Bear Sunday morning to a gator. Bear was one of the few dogs that deserved the title of find dog. He was an old hard knocking dog that was pretty good in all departments and needed no help. He will be sorely missed.

Sorry to hear, makes me sick too, i quit hunting a ranch by a river due to gators, lost 2 dogs in a month In refugio county, big big ranch with 4000 acre grain feild on one side of the river and all brush on the other, the hogs swam the river to get to the grain feild at night, that grain feild was soild feild with no turn tows except on the side away from the brush, hogs would head for the river out of the grain feild, gators sat down there waiting for dogs and hogs alike, big drop off you could not get down for a 1/2 mile, we heard one get it, i still get sick thinking of all the crazy ways for a hog dog to get killed, it was nothing for it to be 100 degrees in 7 foot tall corn and dogs could not make it all the way around the feild with no water in that heat and hummidity seemed like, especially airdales, they too goofy for getting in tanks water troughs rivers all the time even though i sheared them every summer, hope u get somebody to set a rusty dull hook out for that dog killa, use a baby gator for bait too!!!!!

The boys went back to the spot they were tracking Bear to see if they could recover the body. Found a tree shaker that must have choked on a bone. I spoke too soon, seems like before he could choke, he snaped a 300 lb. test line.

Sorry to hear that bob.  Jim bob called me and told me about it.  Bear was shonuff the best dog I have ever hunted behind.  He was the kinda dog that would make some people quit huntin.  He didn't come back you had to go to him bayed somewhere.  My first hunt with him was about 13 hours long.  He wasn't quitin.  I told yall I don't like them gators.
