Diamond Hi-Energy 24/20

i got diamond naturals large breed and next i will get the chicken n rice for the curs, they also had a diamiond exteme 32/25

I have never had to clean dog kennels with
 A shovel until I fed diamond one time just
to cut the cost down and I will never do it
again! My dogs had soft and runny chit for 2
weeks so I changed back to sportsmix 24/20.

Have fed the Shawnee, Diamond,Sportsmix,Outlaw,Blackgold,Purina,Retriever,Oldroy,Oldyeller Kroger and couple more can't think of.

I buy the Diamond several pallets at a Time and so far have no complaints.
The others either wouldn't hold body weight, to expensive, small bites, dogs wouldn't eat,  or they chit like a pet coon thru a screen door.

Only one above that I halfway liked was Retriever Blue bag.

Diamond still has my vote until they get to high on price.  Givin close to 23 a bag in bulk now but it ain't 27 like Sportsmix.

sportmix 24/20 for 2 years now. and doogs with firm solid stools and price is affordable too,very happy with it. I feed 10 pups and 6 full grown dawgs.

I'd feed pedigree before diamond.

well it seems its about 50/50 on the pros n cons, as for me it works good dogs look good, danes look good, curs poop i can rake up, danes sometimes runny but i think thats to do with being a dane and stomach issues

okboarhunter, a lot of folks can't make up their minds on which feed to go with. Also when the feed they were using goes up in price a little they quickly try something else. I'm not saying that's what your doing, but a lot of folks just chase different brands. As soon as they read a post where someone says something negative about one brand, they switch. All of this switching messes a dogs stomach up for a week or so. Once you decide on a brand give it 2 or 3 weeks before judging it. It took my dogs about 3 weeks to get use to Diamond's Chicken and Rice from Diamond High Energy. Clean up is about 1/3 of what it was on high energy.Dogs coats are starting to get shiny. But again no matter what brand you decide , give it some time before judging it.   Good Luck with your dogs

Never could get good firm stool on Diamond. I fed it for a few months and the dogs always crapped cow patties. I love Black Gold but the price is too high. I'm trying my first bag of Sportmix 24/20 b/c I've read so many good things about it.

Throw a slice of cheese on there, should harden it up for ya!

thanks ive alway fed hi energy since they was pups but wanted something better the natural stuff should wrk on the large breed i got danes poop already better plus they have the glucosamine and chondriton in it

We feed Retriever high energy in summer and Diamond high energy in winter. Do more hunting in winter n keeps weight on dogs good.

I feed sportsmix in the blue bag or black bag. Either one is 27 dollars for 50 #s and that is about the cheapest priced dog food around here for the money...

Now they have the Victor in another feed store that is the same distance from my house as where I buy sportsmix. The price of Victor is about the same price as sportsmix per bag except it is a 40 pound bag. I am going this morning to the feed store to pick up 3 bags of Victor. If I see that my dogs are doing good on it I will see if I can find a way to buy a few pallets at a time of Victor. I will only do this if I can get the price down to 22 or 23 dollars per bag and then only if the dogs eat less and still look good.

Rigt now it would cost me 5.40 dollars for every 10 pounds of sportsmix and 6.75 dollars for every 10 pounds of Victor.

Time will tell which route I will be taking...

Reuben, give your dogs a few weeks to adjust to the Victor. I went from Sportsmix to Victor a couple of years ago, there's no comparison ingredient wise. Victor is a very high quality feed. A lot of people feed it a week or two, their dogs have a very dark, runny stool... and they think it's crap. Give them time to adjust and you'll be pleased with the results.

I've always fed the 24/20 in everything... Diamond, Sportsmix, then Victor.

Some people like the 26/18, but I've never tried it... I think they're around the same price.

The sad part about all these feeds and our main problem is the fluctuating prices. You can buy the exact same dog food at the same chain store in twelve different locations and you will get that many different prices.

Let me clarify on one sportmix wasn't a bad food but around here is to expensive to feed. I even went a far as inquiring on getting a dealership just for a pricebreak and it still wasn't manageable.  A few of my friends in OK are paying a fraction of the price we are for the same dang feed. Just boils down to the companies price gouging the hell out of everybody.  But until then I am buying Diamond in bulk and it is my best choice for quality and price for around here.

x2 there poop will look like melted chocolate ice cream. i would loved victor dog food fed the 24/20 less poop! but i went from payen 16.50 to $23 per 40lb sack and was told the price would stay on the rise. so i switched to ole reliable diamond, like said above give ur gogs time to adjust to the feed u are feeding. with all these high protein high fat dog foods, if ur not running ur dogs a 2 to 3 times a week or use them on a daily basis where do u think all that crap is goen? staright out the rear! if ur gonna feed high protein high fat dog food work ur dogs or keep them conditioned. you will notice a difference.

for the money right now in my neck of the woods is sportsmix 24/20 but it would be nice if they made it the same style as the 26/18 sportsmix.

Dog food seems to be a little more expensive around here because the work and pay scale around here.

Right now, I'm paying the same, pound for pound, for the Victor as the Sportsmix. The folks at Victor need to open their eyes and see how many customers they've lost and will lose if they keep raising prices. I hate to do it, but if there's another big price increase... I will change back to the Sportsmix.

I don't think i'll ever go back to the Diamond Hi-Energy. I fed it for a lot of years and the dogs don't do or look near as well on it when compared to the other feeds. A lot a watse and yellow crap... too much corn. I switched back to it a few years ago when the Sportsmix went up, with the same results... went right back to the Sportsmix. Maybe Diamond has changed their recipe since then?

Wish we could get back to the days of paying $11 or $12 a bag.
