Home for a couple days in between trips... HAD to squeeze in a quick hunt... much to the chagrin of my wife
Got to the spot, turned Ellie and Chub in and off to the races. Had AJ and one of her pups(11m.o. BMC cross named Tank a rancher raised) on lead. This first hog made a few loops before lining out and Ell finally stopped him at 1000yds. Chub solidified the bay and we made our way to them. About half way Tank heard the bay and wanted to go so I cut him loose... We heard the smack about a minute later.... and then back to baying... guess he's not as rough as his brother Bo was
We finally made it to them and there was a nice little boar waitin' for AJ, so AJ got to play
Barred, marked, and loosed and back to the truck to get some fresh dogs.
My wife somehow managed to put 10#'s on ol' Ellie in 3 wks
... poor dog still managed to get it done without having a heat stroke
AJ and Chub cooling off
We ran 3 more hogs that after noon but got worked each time. Hogs are getting wise at this spot and have figured out how to use the canals to loose the dogs... making big figure 8's around these canals, eventually overlaying a previous scent trail.... makes it hard to stay with them very long
The hogs might bay up once or twice, then straight to the canals and round and round. I'll probably have to start running a couple more dogs at this spot if I ever want to catch the good ones...
Looks like yall been tearin' it up!
