i give a tenth of  a cc per ten pound once a month. so a 60 lb dog would get 6 tenths of a cc... thats what i do anyway.

I forgot to add on ebay you can buy 100 syringes for about 12.00 free shipping just have to search different suppliers, the ol'lady's supply will probably run dry after awhile..good luck

a friend of mine told me a little trick. just ball up some bread and put the ivamec in it and give it to the dog. they think its a treat. to me this is easier than forcing it down em or giving a shot. this is how i have been doing it..

Your right its not rocket science, but u get one shot to screw it up then u got a dead or sick dog. I'll take my chances with rocket science.

Keep this in mind, the big heartworm pill has 272 mcgs of ivermectin. And 1/10th of a cc of 1% ivomec contains 1000mcgs of ivermectin. So 6/10 of a cc is 6000 mcgs of ivermectin.

Where did this dozing amount come from?

jd jp the doseing amount came off the bottle for the swine dosage . thats what we use and is vet approved . you see my last wife was a vet tech . only reason i married the vet tech was cuase i couldn't get the vet i went to school with to leave her husband . ivomect is a dog safe drug for just about all breeds except the collie breeds . i worm pregnant gyps 6 week old puppies hell i've even wormed myself when the old cow bucked in the shoot and i poored enough on me to worm a 900 lb heifer . i called the doctor and he told me to come in and get a tapeworm pill . when i asked why all he said  [while laughing ] was i just wormed myself for everything else might as well make shure i didn't have a tape !!!

Ok fair enough. But is it necessary? Does the inj. Version not absorb as good as the pill you can buy?
I know people have been dosing like that for a long time, I've just never read why.

My friend gives his dogs way more than that for manger, but I with about the liver.

jd the low dose in the pill is good for the filllarvea or how ever you say it . but the larger dose is for heart worm prevent AS WELL as a monthly wormer for the dogs the low dose wont do much but make the worms a little woozy . they dont use ivomect in cattle and swine to prevent heart worms it is to remove all worms except the tape . that is the reason for the larger dose .

mix 1cc of ivomec and 9cc of propylene glycol in a old medicne bottle, and give 1cc of mixture per 10lbs of body weight in mouth, (make sure it is mixed)

I use 1 CC or 1 mil for a 40-80 lb. dog. The Ivomec is 1%. The med is pretty forgiving...

I also use the zimecterin paste which is 1.87%. I eye ball the med about 1/2 cc's worth on account it is almost twice the strength.

The 3 cc syringes are cheap at tractor supply or the feed store and I usually use the same one over and over again. just squirt the liquid in the mouth and hold the dogs head up until it swallows and praise the dog. The paste... I just put some on my finger and put it straight into the back of the tongue and close the dogs mouth and hold it shut with the head up until the dog swallows and then praise.

Real easy if done right and a big fight if you don't know how to do it...
