I have always wondered why people sell dogs and want to sell them for less money without a guarantee and want more money with a guarantee? I have never understood why, so i figured i would ask and see what you think!

The seller may look at this way. If he/she wants to get rid of the dog n a buyer wants to possibly save money then buy for less n hope for the best. I look at it in this manner. If the seller is willn to run a trial, then the buyer may thnk that the dog atleast works for the seller. If i sell an older dog, it will hav a trial no matter what the price is, thats if the potential buyer wants the trial, its up to them. What works for me may not work for the next person, my style may be oppisite for the nxt guy

well garranty's are good for the buyer but sometimes hell on the seller . i garranty every dog that leaves my yard . but some people will take advantage of a garranty . the dog will hunt like heck but it may not hunt like the buyer wants for whatever reason [mostly stupid ] or his wife  found out how much he spent on the dog the list goes on and on and you get the dog back .

But a dog should be guaraunteed in my opinion.  The reason for this is because, if you are not producing the highest quality dogs to pass on genetic traits you want to stay in your yard, and share with different hunters, then you should not be breeding.  Yes you have the dummies that buy the dog not knowing what having a hunting dog means, or "his wife getting mad" but at least you are giving them the best possible dog, and the fact that you are willing to take it back if it comes to that shows you believe that yourself.  I also feel that if you bred for this purpose then there are plenty of worse places for a dog that has the genetics and traits you are looking for to go than back to you. You should only breed a dog to produce the hunting stock that you want to hunt with so why if your breeding it because it has the things you look for in a dog would you not guarantee it? Obviously culls happen, but probably less often in a proven line of dogs  JMHO though

Halfbreed, i know what you are saying about getting the dog back because they dont like the dog or whatever the reason is. That's why i like to hunt with the dog or have a trail because if it dont fit my way of hunting i dont want to keep it. Im sure we all have had deals on dogs that went south, but if you notice alot of people selling dogs say they cant take you hunting and dont want to give a trail. Just curious on the reason behind this and the money difference?

me personally i've never bought a dog over 6 months old . but i will tell you what i've told every young man i've talked to no trial don't buy period . and if your buying a finished strike dog off of somebody ask them what they don't like about the dog because there will be something in the dog the seller doesn't like or they would keep it for themselves . like i sold my strike dog una to mav i would have never sold her but for the reason as good a dog as she was she had a quiet mouth that i could not hear if she was far out and bayed up .

If the seeler wont trial the dog bc they aint gota a place, then how did they train the dog in the first place? If they wont let u take the dog on trial either, then its best to find another dog from elsewhere.
I dont c where the whole wife issue comes into play. If u saved or hav the money n it aint gona put u n a bind, then who gave her permission to say no? I guess i hav a good wife, bc if it aint gonna break us n i know it, i dont evere hear a peep out of her. I thought the men wear the pants in the relationship.

I been in the sandbox since 05-08 n again this yr. Im on my 3rd wife, pay child support from my sec for boy who dont wanna come see me if my xbox aint hooked up. It possibly is cheaper to sell out or bow down to them, but since wemon gained their equal rights, its went down hill for the men since then. When they can pull the equal weight, then i will recognize them as my equal. It used to be a mans military n now that wemon n gays r allowed to run rampid, the military has gone to hell in a hand basket. Im glad i broke my back n hav pain everyday. Its worth it verses dealin with a bunch of pansies who r raised by wemon, who go cryin to moma if their supiriors disapline them bein f$&kt up

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog...
