A few weeks ago my dog got off his chain and got hit by a car, broke his back leg. Took him to the vet had him put back together(pinned his leg up), hes been on  antibiotics and kept in the kennel. A few days ago I noticed he has a huge knot right above his staples right at his knee.. so i shot him up with pennicilin and been shooting him up the knot dosent seem to be going down.

My question is (next week i take him to the vet anyway) does anyone have any idea what it might be?

im thinking some kind of infection but with the antibiotics and pennicilin i dont see how.

How anyone had this happen befor and if so what did the vet do??

Sounds like a pocket of some sort... hematoma, possible infection... may have to drain it, but an x-ray would help with what to do next

Keepin' a dog still at all cost for a leg break is first and foremost...

see his legs set got a pin in it. You think an x-ray will help see inside the pocket? I thought about just draining it just like when you lance a boil or something like that.

You're probably spot on, but call the doctor about it first... and make sure everything is COMPLETELY sterile before trying it... bone infection is a whole nother level of bad...

Don't know much about symptoms other than it literally eats the bone away... gone gone...  If he's healing from a fracture, he should not be putting hardly any weight on it for a couple mnths...  keep in crate and hand walk only

Vet needs to see that asap, do not try and drain that with out him seeing it first.

Dude if the vet gave a number 2 i would take em back. First of all he hates hunting dogs and everytime i go in there it cost 100.00 for number 2 so i asked if someone had seen this befor not a lecture in what to do.

Have you seen this befor? no ok thank you for the advice.

Im looking for a new vet somone i can use that wont rob me and not care about the dog. So as soon as i find one he will go.

where are you located  ? the vet pinned the leg he is responible till healed was all i was getting at . i've delt with idiot vets before . but if you messing with it you release him from all liability of sorry work . and he shouldn't charge you anything for lookin at a dog with a problem that he just worked on .

Iv been on the phone for a few hours trying to get the vet that did it to tell me what it was but he keeps giving me the run around saying he needs to come in and its gonna be another 175.00 for him x ray check it out and then tell me what it needs.

it's tuff . i used a vet after my orininal vet moved off and he was responsble for letting my best dog and buddy die . cause he didn't like hog dogs . needless to say i had a bunch of friends that used him on all there dogs and livestock . and they really liked my old dog as much as i did . needless to say when i got through with it he ain't got much bizznizz no mo . good luck with ya dog and spread the word about the vet to everybody you know .
