Well Im hooked...and need to know what I need to compete in the baypen? I have a GREAT dog and im getting him a cut vest/collar is there anything else I need? and how do the rules work? I understand that the dog gets docked points when he looks away from the hog but is there anything else?

Sounds like you got the "FEVER" real bad! The best advice I have is take a handful of asprin and about a week of bed rest. If that doesn't work load up ole Blue and hit the road.

Dog goes into the pen with a 10 each mistake has a deduction of at leaast 1/10 point
Each pen has its own variation of these rules but, they are all basicly the same.
catch out= DQ Hogs forward motion has stopped, this includes spinning for a count of 5 at most pens. We use a 3 count or 3, 2counts
nipping= if a hog is standing still and a dog makes contact
drifting= Hog moves more than 20ft without dog making effort to stop it.
lookout= dog glances out (doesn't matter if a hog squeals or a child screams it is still a mistake)
spin=dog spins right in front of a hog
loop= dog makes aloop
going to the bathroom in pen is a no-no(this rule goes for the handler as well)

Hope to see you at the practice
