Who has a proven line of long--mid range dogs, that are still ruff? I mean ruff as hog stoppers, not running catch dogs, just stop dogs that will, and can stop a hogs, with lots of bottom. There are lots of ruff dogs, that can and will stop a hog. There are some dogs that can really travel and hunt, but most of these dogs that I have seen aren't ruff. I dont know of but a few dogs who can do both. Im sure there are some out there. The ones I no of are few, and not from a line, that is known for these traits, over several generations. Im dont expect a 96% rate, just a proven line to possess these traits.

i know everybody likes those gritty curs or are you talking about a dog that will find bay and then catch when need be? i have a dog that will surprise me bay a 100 pound boar but seen him catch a 250 pound sow by himself i would look into a good cur line

if your looking for a line of dogs that do this generation after generation you would be best to look at the plott dogs . our curs as a rule were bred for close to mid range dogs for gens, not that there aren't some curs that will go but they don't consistantly produce offspring that will do the same . but the hound breed have been bred for these traits for hundreds of years . and the plotts are known for their grit and bottom . just my personall thoughts on the matter .

I agree with the plotts covering what I was asking. I should also have said a closed mouth dog. Or is there anyone who has been crossing the plotts, for several generations, and producing these traits? thanks

yes there are a few lines of plotts that produce closed mouth or semi silent dogs my last plott was tight mouthed but she was a grade dog not sure on her blood lines . the older cur type plotts produced alot of tight mouthed dogs . then the coon hunters got ahold of them and drove the cur type people underground with not letting them register them because of color . they want these big brindle houndy looking dogs we got today . but there are still many out there . i think the weems line is of the more old type plott and produces alot more tight mouth dogs than other . maybe hillbilly or arrowbar could tell you more about them .

I have a Plott that I thought wasnt going to make it because of his trashing and just being a hardheaded idiot, after a solid year of shock therapy this dog has turned out to be one of the best silent and roughest hounds I have seen.Never thought I would own another Plott but sure glad I gave this one some time,he almost drove me insane when I first got him.

There is a couple good cur dog lines Thats exactly what you want. Silent, smart rough, cold nosed, and did I mention they're a cur dog nah hounds are good to but the good ones in both breeds are hard to come by and you probably are gonna have to raise some puppies to get what you want because finding one of them dogs for sale is like looking for a needle in a haystack

I dont think T-Bob meant it in a wrong way. Just saying it takes awhile to get what you want and it takes time to build a pack, or that's how I took it. Do you have the kinda dogs you're talking about? From the post it sounds like you need em, just curious, kinda got confused.

Yes thats what im shooting for. And could be on the way to having them, just curious if anyone already had them. Im not looking for an accident, or a fluke. I believe in proven lines! Yes if its out there I want to see them. I love to watch a good dog work, As the hogs have started running like grayhounds. I have been trying to change my dogs up, and get more stop in them. I feel like they already have the hunt. Back when I started, it was pretty easy to take one dog, and catch, lots of hogs. Times change, so the dogs must change also, If I want to continue to catch hoggs, not just chase them all over Gods creation! Having good dogs is not an accident, and maby if I step outside of my lil circle, I can find them, already in action.
