My partner Jed and his brother Jay went up to the mountains for two days trying to get on a lion - with no luck so they decided to get back to huntin hogs. They gave me a call, and we all met up at the "Big Nasty" ( salt cedars on the river ). I finally talked my wife into going - she has never gone with me berfore so I was pretty excited. We get there and collar everyone up, put Glencoe, Doc, Rooster, Dixie, and Elroy up on the box and head down a road near some thick salt cedars, about 15 minutes into it - Rooster, Dixie and Elroy bail off the truck - followed by Glencoe and Doc. The three pups lite out towards the cedars the two older dogs headed to the open firld then turned and took after the pups. Just a couple minutes later Rooster, Dixie and Elroy started baying - then Glencoe opened up and we knew it was a hog. We all started heading towards the bay and cut the bulldogs loose about 100 yards. We heard the catch but no squeeling so we knew it was a good one. We get to the bay and it was a good boar caught, we decided to go ahead and stick him (could'nt talk my wife into it yet ) Jay got the stick. We were lucky cause we normally catch them deep in the cedars - we caught this one right on the edge of them. Pretty rough boar - the bulldog took a poke in the leg, Glencoe got a cut in the side, and Doc took a poke in the ribs and shoulder - actually everyone turned out real good - no major injuries. After getting a few pics, we decided to call it an early night. My wife is hooked now - she has already claimed two of my mountain cur pups - to bad they are only 4 weeks old. To make a long story short - we had a blast - and the dogs did great. By the way - if you notice this hog had been caught before - he was missing an ear - we are the only ones who hunt down there with dogs so there is a good chance he was one that got away from us awhile back. Ha it happens.
