I was wondering if anybody out there knows about hogs been in the lake houston areas

Yep, I have 5 different properties under contract all around that area... 11,000 to 12,000 acres.
There's some hogs, but nothing like it was 5 to 10 years ago.

They're all around you, but most of that land north of Huffman is all leased up. Lot's of farmland east of you also that's covered up in hogs, but just as many hog hunters as there are hogs.
All my places are on the south end of the lake. 4,000 acres in Crosby and 4 county properties on the west side of the lake/river.

I have permission on a place just north of Huffman right on the lake. Took some horses and rode it out the other day and there was a little sign but alot more people then hogs so Im going to stay away. Best of luck...

I dont care what Mike says, the ONLY way to hunt that country is horseback. There are more cottonmouths in those woods than I have ever seen. You will see more in one day than most will see in a lifetime. Now, Mike's a bit throwed off, and he likes to play with snakes. I won't set foot in the place again, unless its freezing cold, or I am on a horse.

Snakes, gators, crackheads... it's all good! Haha yeah I moved from the north country down to cypress chasin a lady...I ran for a devlopment up north that had some land down here and lake Houston had one of them. Just way too much people activity for me. You are right Chris. Nothing better then horseback if you can... |

Might have been one Chance caught off the highway in Liberty County. Mike, Remember the OLD man on the south end, by the sand pits that kept thinking we were rabbit hunting. That was strange deal for sure. |

Chad, we'll have to get together and hunt sometimes. The only time to hunt those type places are on weeknights.

You just ask... all they can say is no. We were very fortunate on our county contract to have the backing of a businessman and his attorneys that handled everything. It took 8 long months of red tape, but they finally got it drawn up. That pretty much opened the doors for other urban places... subdivisions, developers, golf courses, etc... It's a helluva lot easier to obtain permission from a farmer or rancher out in the country. |
