Me and critter catcher took a coworker of mine and a friend of his tonight out to the devils honey hole and had one of those hunts that makes you remember that hog hunting ain't all fun and games. I'll type out the long version tomorrow, but for the sake of time the hunt went as follows.

Drop dogs
Dogs get on sounder
Sounder turns into 1 gnarly Boar
Boar runs for miles
Wannabe Rambo homeowner comes out yelling then starts shooting
We run back to truck to go pick up dogs
Stand on county road whistling and calling dogs
All humans and dogs are safe and sound in the truck heade home
T-Bob needs to vent so calls JHeffern then posts cliff notes version to ETHD

We've had a good long run of great luck, very fortunate it didn't all end tonight. Praises and thanks to God for a scary, but safe trip.

Sorry to hear that.  That's sucks when you plan out a hunt and it goes south!

it sucked..dogs did their job but the hogs picked the wrong path and got out of the county quick..Tbob we'll have to bring your newbies out again and show them a hog next time instead of a garmin screen..

Hi everyone - I was one of the newbs on the hunt  Afro

I really appreciated TBob and Critter Catcher taking us out - I've been wanting to go hog hunting for a long time, and I considered it a priveledge to go with guys who were obviously very experienced and willing to deal with a couple of newbs.  Even though things didnt turn out as planned, I still enjoyed going with yall. I only got worried when that crazy home owner started shooting, and I was thinking he might have shot one of the dogs.  I felt a big relief when all three were back into the bed of the truck.

Despite an unsuccessful night, there was one funny/newbie side note.  Before my friend (TBob's coworker) and I met up with them, we were trying to make sure we got prepared and had everything essential that we could bring.  He and I got into a big debateat Academy about what size sticker we should bring.  I ended up bringing a big oversized Winchester Bowie, and realized when we met up that it probably isnt the tool most commonly used for the job.

No worries bro its a fine knife, I'm just a weirdo and dont like carrying one. I've lost several good knives and plus if I have to cross a boundary like we did last night i dont want to be accused of poaching or trying to hurt nothing.

Also, welcome aboard, How'd you find ETHD? Im going out of town for several days early next week, but if yall wanna go again midweek, we'll try to get yall somewhere with more hogs and less drama. I'll personal message you my phone number.

lol, Google result - I was telling one of my coworkers from Garwood about yesterday, and searched for "critter catcher hog dogs" or something like that. It was one of the first results. I poked around and saw the Walmart story, and then found this thread.

I may be out of town all next week, but after that I'll definitely be open to going whenever yall can make it out.  I'll shoot you a text or give you a call.  Thanks again.
