Loaded up my good strike dog, a pup, and a bulldog and headed to one of my pastures. Turned loose and walked to a feeder. The dogs went 900 yds and opened up. Got 200 yds away and they broke. So I sat down and waited. 15 minutes later my garmin beeped and said treed...... 0.65.....  Angry Evil. Walked all the way to 20 yds away and sent the bulldog to seal the deal. Turned out to be a 100+ pound boar but I was more than happy for my first hunt by myself. Been tryin to post pics for 30 minutes and all I got was  Huh? Guess I'm not smart enough. Sorry

That sounds about like the hunt i had last night...

Caught 2 real quick, then they get on a runner and end up baying a 100# boar 1.26 miles the opposite way of the truck...
When i finally got to them and get it caught, i was 2.2 miles from the truck.. Luckily i was only a mile from a county road and
had my buddy pick me up there... Sure was glad cuz i wasnt looking forward to the long walk back to the truck at all!!!  Grin

Ya the only reader he bayed up is he got between a cedar tree and THANK GOD the only net wire fence on my place along the county road. I parked the truck 2 miles from my house and caught him about 300 yds from my beedroom window. I'm ready to get my liscense so I can hunt more

I love hunting by myself.  I notice and pay attention to my dogs alot more and just enjoy the woods.  There is no feeling like taking one hog dog and a catchdog and getting it done.  It'll definitely make you come up with some cool ideas on handling those big boars by yourself.

Sorry Kelton. I had to be in town at 7 for moms party and she went early so I "took the pups out to let them run around and play"  Wink Grin

Sounds like a good hunt! And a good learning experiance. If you are hunting by yourself, always have a ride ready... never know when you'll end up 2-3 miles from the truck, and after doing work, walking isn't the first thing you want to have to do. Good hunting to ya!
