These days I am more of a fair weathered hunter, but this invite was to be a special treat of an opportunity of a hunt that We were invited to bring our dogs and assist with, and considering some of the company,(not all  Wink ) I was eager to get up way before daylight and load dogs in the cold darkness and make the long drive to hunt those City hogs.

I was able to bring my young up and coming pup that has only been on half dozen hunts, I was quite pleased and beaming with pride ( forgot all about being hungry) to get complimented on her performance by a man I am quite honored to hunt with due to his good name and years of experience that were well known and respected even back when I was just obtaining my very first pack of hog dogs.

Not only was it a successful and full hunt producing 9 hogs with only minor bumps and bruises, it was a real treat and a pleasure. I will sleep good tonight and so will these dogs, talk about some tired pups that earned a little extra treat too Cheesy

Thomas can add his version in a little while.

That's hard to beat, there are some good ones in there. What is the breed on the pup in the pic? I like him!

Mr. Roy Rudcker, cowboy, who I used to hear stories about before I had my first hog dog. Working cattle and calling dogs off to go bay and hold hogs and roping from saddle, to go back and finish cattle work after hogs cleaned up. I have seen him many times over the years being asked to assist to rope hogs at bayings/gatherings and do some of his fancy rope and dog work, but only hunted behind him this a second time and good visit, with Mr. Roy.

That sounds like a really fun run! I bet ya'll were worn smooth out after 9 of 'em. They have always said, "the early bird gets the worm"... guess it holds true in this hunt for sure. Good huntin' to ya!

yes show him the picture, that little squirt was out hustled Sassy & Earl hands down, and was bayed on hogs solo a couple times, according to Mr. Roy who saw her. After the hunt we were gathering all back together and even Squaw handled like one of the senior dogs, I had thrown a blanket on the ground and was sitting on it, I called my girls over and told them to lay down they each grabbed a corner and she balled up in the mifddle. Mr. Roy thinks I have A good handle on my set of dogs, telling where to lay and stay like that. Of course I did not tell him they were just Slick worn smooth out and so sore they were ready for a cat nap like me! Remind me to tell you about my ONE-OUT the same hog twice, it was a little western for a minute and I have not tied one with rope in a few years, but I did not let any hog get away this day!
