because of the Garmin I have documented one of my own favorite dogs to rig off the UTV at 400+ to an impressive armadillo in hole hole. Now I believe its hard to do on a hog cause hog can be moving and can kinda guestimate unless you jump out its bedded spot

I think that dePends on a lot of stuff. In the right conditions I could probly smell a hog from the truck a long ways. Depends on how much scent the hog is putting off, humidity, wind, how cold-nosed the dOg is and how interested he is  in the scent. I've had a few instances that my dogs winded one out of the truck or boat several hundred yards.

perfect wind and temp conditions I saw some dogs wind a big bunch of hogs about 3/4 mile if not furhter. The wind was channelling between  two tree lines into a long meadow...we just followed the dogs on 4wheelers until they went in and bayed up.

Have seen my black male go 1.18 and bay. Have seen my cat go 1.5 and open up. No trees. All open ground in pretty good wind. Most times round 1/2 a mile.

I use night vision alot and I have seen hogs at a half mile that my dogs rigged but what i think is more impressive jmo is I have a dog that will curl up in a ball when flying down the highway and have seen him rigg from that position many times going 70ish mph

Had a black dog one time that was a winding machine .  Seen him wind 1000 yds across a Hey patch take off all the way across and end up every time with a hog in the woods on the other side.  He got killed never had another one like him yet !
