Me David and his buddy James loaded up the wives and dogs Saturday night to go help a friend that had hogs going everywhere. We turn out behind Robby the guy that called us and bones novio and goose go to hunting. Bones goes 8/10 orlf a mile nw.  We round up novio and goose and go to him. Bout the time we meet him at the west rd a boar busts out of the ditch going se.  Novio and goose are on him in a hurry. They stop him about 60 yrds from the truck and cope and king get him caught. We pull novio goose an cope out and when we tried to break king somehow a mistake was made and the hog bit Davids hand. I grab the breakstick and pry the hogs mouth open but the damage was done. His right index finger was severed. We stuck the hog and took David to the er.  He had to go to a hand specialist in okc to undergo surgery. We find out Wednesday if the finger will survive. Even if it does he will only have about 50% useage of it. Bad deal. Bad hog. Keep in mind it only takes a split second and a quarter inch the wrong way and your life is forever different. Heavy hearts for S.W.O. HOgdoggers right now. (David was our main catch guy. Did most of the hard work for us and was glad to do it.) Your spot in the truck will remain open bud. Hurry up and heal up. The dogs and us miss you already bud

Dang sorry to hear about that mishap. Anything can happen out there in the woods... That is the risk that everyone takes going hunting, and is the reason to be as prepared as possible out there. I'll pray for your buddy's finger and hand. Wish the best to ya'll in your up and coming hunts being down a crew member.

Its hard not to be. I know we all know its dangerous sport but I got these guys started. Everyone kind of centers around me. So I feel like they are my guys. My team. My responsibility. Just wish it was me and not him. But it won't happen again. Ill make that hogs mouth is tied from now on. And ill do the bulldog breaking from now on.

This is a great reminder for all of us that even though we get excited, we have to stop and think sometimes and make sure we are being as safe as possible....Hope everything works out with the finger

X2 on slowing down. All it takes is a few seconds to think things out. It also pays that everybody knows what their job is before u just go rushing in. We had a good bay dog get killed one time because somebody was in a hurry & pulled him across a boars head. I think David will be back in full force before we know it. Riley & I both have been praying for a speedy recovery.

I hope you buddy gets well soon.  You can never be to careful.  I think a lot of us do it so much it becomes routine and when that happens watch out.  Me included .
