What drama or you referring to Critter ? I think the site is working fine. Seems to me for the Most part everyone gets along. There is a lot of the same questions asked by newbies but I think that is one reason for the site, a place where people can come to learn. A post like the one you made wanting to put one mans dog up against another, well I think that just creates drama.

What does having better dogs than the next guy prove.  Some guys have more money than sense, So who is the better hunter, the guy buying finished dogs or the hunter starting out with nothing and workin his way up?  Something to think about it.

Personally I hog hunt because I enjoy it, once I start doing it to prove something to someone, well I'll let my dogs sit on the end of a chain before that happens just on principle alone.

Im sure he is refering to internet hunters. those that come on here and other forums and talk a good game, but have little or no chance (not refering to cward) of actually backing what he/she says bout their real or made up dogs. i dont know if this where he is goin with this topic, but i think this is what he is talk ing about.

now, i feel bout the same as the others with their replys. its not gonna prove much at all. if i get my a$$ smoked in a hunt contest, then so be it. that would so me where i need to improve, but i know my dogs aint the greatest, so i would be fool to even try it.
if a person buys his/her way to exellent dogs, then so be it, and if they like said before, start from scratch and build up, then so be it. if i had the money i would rather buy already finished dogs and adjust my hunting style to the dogs, but im left to start from scratch and work my way up, even though several of my dogs cost a pretty penny bc of the bloodline nad i couldv used that the same money to buy already finished dogs instead of pups. i got culls, but they are my culls.

Yup if there no hogs to be caught dogs can't catch none if you got tons of hogs it don't take much of a dog to catch one

That's exactly what I was thinking when I made my initial post about having a rude awakening in a competition... The property is the deciding factor.

X 3... Shhh don't tell everyone that, prolly the only reason we do well in comps.. You have tO have enough land to have your dogs legged up and ready to go but you still have to have the honey hole to hunt!!

We have certain ranches set aside for comps and they don't get touched til that weekend

Exactly..

If you gonna competition hunt, hunt at least 3 different days where there aren't many hogs. Hunting a place that looks like a hog zoo will prove nothing. A hogdog is SUPPOSED to look like a million bucks somewhere like that..

I agree with that statement if your having a friendly competition between your hunting buddies to see who has the best dogs and so on... but if you are paying $$$ to enter a competitiOn where you don't even know 95% of the other people why should you make it hard on yourself to hunt places with scattered hogs!?

The point of a competition is to WIN, if you arnt smart enough to keep properties set aside for it then that's on your team. You still have to bring in the more hogs and the bigger than the rest of the field, regardless of how good the place is you hunt
