I am talking about high percentage of hog dogs or hunting dogs per litter. but not neccessarily liked by some because too open or to much range or bottom.
1. most hounds like plott, walker, red tick, redbone, bluetick, black and tan etc. etc...not the real cold nosed slow tracking hounds
a close second
2. leopard cur and the larger mtn cur... most curs crossed with hound
3. black mouth cur and catahoulas and lacys

I should have said it like this .
I am talking about breeders names and dogs names of the breeds . Which breeders names show up in some of the most consistent breeds of good hog dogs of that particular breed . Like BMC which breeders of this line and certain dogs produce the most consistent hog dogs same goes for all the other breeds. Also Which picturlar dogs of the breeds tend to show up most in the breed of dogs such as Plott, Leopards, Mt Curs and others. Which breeders and dogs tend to produce the best of there breeds ?

LOL
Halfbreed I got a feeling this one is gonna go a full 15 rounds to the bell !
I hear of all these names with different breeds so I would like to know who all has experinced good sucess and bad also with them. As much as we hear all these names one would think there would be a ton of folks that has these kind of high percentage dogs in one breed are another. I have noticed over time there sure is some high high prices on a lot of some of these big named bloodlines just for pups and young dogs that dont know noting so I just would like to hear some hands on results and if paying a ton of money for a young pup are young dog is worth it .

I know there is plenty of real good Catahoula bloodlines out there. Before I purchased my first cat pup I researched a lot of bloodlines to see which ones were constantly producing good dogs, in other words proven producers. I ended up purchasing a Monaghan Catahoula. The foundation of these dogs are Sandhill's, Koon's, Lee, and Aden . This line of dogs are constantly producing not only good hog dogs but good cow dogs also. I have 2 eight mnth. old pups that we will start hunting this winter. I hope they work like the other dogs from this line.

Plotts, Weems, and Crockett, with a little cascade. I have hunted several strains of plotts and other breeds over the last 20 yrs. These dogs I have now, which I bought and just started breeding my own, but have hunted with this line for yrs and were impressed with their performance is the reason I bought pups from this line. They start young, have tons of natural drive and good noses and gritty. This line ain't for everybody, but its what im stickin with. There are a few that are breeding this same line.

I have found over the years that there are some mighty fine hog dogs out there in people's yards that are just regular old hog doggers not out for fame are money that have hunted long nuff to make two three maybe four breedings from their own dogs that they hunt on a regular bases over the years. Most of their dogs might have this big named dog are that big named dog here and there in it from some known breeder but most just started out breeding real hog dogs to real hog dogs matching breedings with what was needed in the new pups not caring if this so called dog was in it are not . I think myself that some of these people have just as good and some even better dogs than some of the more reputable breeders that get big money for there dogs and are big time known breeders. I got news for people that think the ped makes the dog because it is just the oppsite the dog makes the ped ! You breed good dogs you get good dogs you breed pretty papers you get pretty papers and hope for a good dog. Anyway am not at all saying a great papered dog cannot make a great dog am just saying beware and make sure the dog made the papers not the papers make the dog. The most consistent good hog dogs are going to come from the most consistent good hog dogs parents and grand parents and so on and so fourth and that is in every breed.

Speaking for the Yellers (go figure) I have to go with what I have experienced and not what I have read in a sales promotion ad. Having owned now a total of five papered dogs and one out of papered dogs throught several decades. I must conclude at best only one was mediocre and worth reselling. I myself am curious by nature and attempt to keep an open mind to the possibility of a long lineage line having worthy and capable dogs. However experience has proven that the greatest most impressive working ability dogs have came from no named individuals that simply keep dogs that prove themselves worthy of being fed by simply providing results. If I had to pick a named line to represent the very best I have experienced.......nobody would know their name..... X2 on your post above brother no matter what a double certified lineage paper says.

just wonder where we would be now if the old timers hadn't kept up with the lineage of there dogs . wich is what registratoin papers are no more than . no papers don't make a dog the dog makes the papers . all this breeding the best to the best was kept up with by the papers thats is why they are important to most breeders, will you have culls ? hopefully if you're staying true to the purpose . wich is to document the lineage of the succeses . do some people go overboard on prices according to the lineage ? yes . do you have to buy it ? NO but are you going to be able to look for a dog of the TYPE you are looking for on account of anccestry and background on a dog of proven lineage ? yes plain and simple if you don't want to pay that extra for a dog with a history DON'T . accually hog doggin is a realitively new sport as far as lines go most our dogs now are cross overs from other game cows, bears, coons, you name it and only time will tell who's the best but even if you have grade dogs [ wich is most of mine ] keep up with the lineage as best you can . cause you might be the next super star in the dog world and have people wanting to pay you the BIG BUCKS for a pup that might make it and might not . all the lines we have today started out in someones backyard . BUT THEY WROTE DOWN AND KEPT UP with what breedings did what and what dogs had the best succses papers = lineage no more no less

Cantex I just had a old old old Buster Lee dog died today . He was 16 yrs old and one of the best that I have owned . Cows hogs didn't make him no difference . He also raised my kids , He was a hell of a dog . RIP Ringo .
In the old days you never seen reg. papers on a dog they were hand written pedigree's and you were lucky if you got one from the old timers . They would tell you in your face you ain't buying paper you are buying the dog . Everything back then was hand written and the men old timers bred good dogs not good paper they would tell you in your face paper is for wiping your ass . Thats also why we have the good dogs we have today in different breeds and that is why some lines of dogs in certain breeds produce their asses off while others with pretty paper don't because some body bred paper and not the dogs.
In the proper hands Papers are just a road map to get to were you want to be, other than that they are worthless except in the hands of peddlers ! You better believe that bro ! A good dog is worth the

the rest.
A good dog without papers to a true hunter are user of dogs is worth just as much as a good dog with papers. Other than that the people that got papered dogs use them as a peddling tool and to raise prices to the unfortunate people that dont know know better what else is the paper good for !

C- Ben Jordan dogs that are from his Cotten dog are great dogs. You won't find papers with his dogs but he can sure tell where they came from.
The most important thing is he uses them not just breeds them

Maybe you're reference to "papers" is strictly about an official registry. If you're saying that a good dog no one knows anything about is worth the same as a good dog with known lineage, then I strongly disagree.
