Hell I think texting is great! No one with any sense would buy anything off texting alone, you would eventually call. I remeber several years ago when I would look at dog trade adds and nearly all of them had a couple good pictures of the dog for sale. I know for a fact it is way easier today to post a picture and yet you cant hardly find an add with a picture of a dog in it. Just my observation and another reason why I am happy I don't have to use the dog trade very often I think this should be mandatory!!! (pics of dogs for sale) number 2, nearly everyone I know old and young operate the internet from their phone and we all know theres not a phone out there that wont take a picture!! Betcha a lot of stolen dogs would get recognized by mandating this. YUP! I know it is just a rant and sorry to take away from the orignal post Mike.

They ought to mark on thier profile the amount of times a person post on the dog trade. Its funny some members go thru dogs like my old lady go's thru horse feed.

No offense to anyone and I'm not Sayin this is the wrong way or the right way but... What's the difference between a text and a mandatory email address to sell a dog. I'm not being a turd about anything, this is yalls sight y'all have the right to say yea or nae and I personally enjoy it alot. I'm just curious because an email isn't talking either? And most that I have read says never check after they put thr address up. Not trying to cause any Problems I'm just curious. I myself do post mostly on the dog trade but if ya look on it under my name it is usually the same dog or if not it's very far between the two. I catch pigs with my dogs but that doesn't mean I hafta post them in the dogs on hogs to show just because I wanna move a dog. My dogs arent 1000 dollar dogs but they do catch a pig once in a while and run a deer at times too. Lol

Phone call for me. Text is not personal and it's hard to read someone's tone from a txt. Hell, we may be able to work out a deal on trade instead of someone trying to talk my price down on a txt message, but....I sell very little so it doesn't matter much to me.
I think Randy_P is onto something........bunch of peddlers on here and I think they should have to post a pic if it's a dog they're selling. Might prevent a little dog theft.
I understand too often people jump into this sport over their head and need to unload some "started" dogs, but it pisses me off when I see folks lie about dog's abilities and potential. I've seen it happen right around here where I live - dog couldn't strike a hamburger in his food bowl and the owner is talking him up, that the dog "just don't fit his pack" or some other BS.
Some of these guys try to sell so many dogs on here that they need one of those "Seller's Ratings" like people get on EBAY.
Sorry - I'll get off my box now. Merry Christmas!

You can tell a lot more about a person by hearing their voice and talking to them than by texting. I was going to buy something off of craigslist and I sent a text back and fourth a few times. I was going to pick the item up the next day, so I called the person. After talking to them on the phone, I backed out of the deal. Something about the person just gave me the creeps after talking to them.

I like texting..... I can bait my hooks and see which ones bite. Its always best to set multiple hooks to ensure success. Sometimes I come up empty but sometimes I have several on the line at once.

i would rather txt and find out if its worth calling, plus i have unlimited txt. if its worth speaking over, then i would call and find out more.
I agree. Plus I work weird hours.. I got a couple texts about some colalrs i posted, had the people called and i didnt answer and they not left a message (i never leave voicemails) I would have never called them back. So if its in a text you know who, and why. Just my .02

Its been said and said well. I want to know where it is at or the price before I call. I like to get a feeler out then if it is something I am interested in we will deffinantly talk before I purchase anything.

no kiddin . i could just imagine takeing some of these kids to the bottoms for several days without a cell thingy . theyed have to be tied up after about 4 hours to keep em from hurting theirselves . and when the goverment decides to finally put it's foot on the throats of america all it will have to do is flip the switch on those sattleites and the whole damn country will be lost with the exception of a few ol country boys

My wife and I said we would never text anyone unless absolutely necessary...we put a grandson on our phone plan and now we have unlimited texting...we started texting back and forth in our deer stands and we just pass the time...makes deer hunting more tolerable... I'm the type that likes to move around or piddle so it gives me something to do when deer hunting... 10,000 years from now mankind will have big heads and eyes and a small mouth...our fingers will be kinda pointed...they will be user friendly for texting I like talking on the phone if talking dogs...

I like text especially when I am at work or can't talk. I have no problem talking Man to Man on the phone about my dogs. I am not a dog Peddler and only sell surplus of dogs. I cannot keep all of them. As far as selling $- it. I would rather cull them than to give my dogs a bad rep. I do not like giving my location out to some unknown person. Seen too many dogs come up missing. Just my opinion.

I also agree with hill country about at least putting where the heck your located so someone can decide if it's worth your time or not. Like Matt said though, I'm glad I don't have to spend to much time in that section anymore.
