I know for the last 2+ yrs I've worked my butt off for everything I have. If I wanted to rodeo I'd work for my entry fee money never had many sponsers. If I wanted another hog dog I'd save up my money but could never drop a lot on a dog so I was stuck working my butt of on keeping a hog around to try and make something out of nothing. I've been thru a few dozen dogs and had a few accide ntal breedings that ended up turning out. Just know how much time and effort and fell into a couple dogs that ended up being just right and finally catching hogs consistently.

So I've just been wondering if someone with deep pockets could go out and spent a few thousand on a few dogs could be a hog hunter just cuz of the deep pockets and not much knowledge on the sport.

Would the lack of knowledge on the sport end up turning good dogs into pot lickers?

Just a few thoughts in my head and wandering bout some of y'alls thoughts and experiences.

Ha nice reading this. I guess i need to change my name to brokearsehunter. A sponsor every now.and then would b nive but i think to much would spoil it. Its nice to learn the hard way like my first hunt for instance caught 3 pigs 1000 yrd away. Had to drag them back pretty much by myself through 2 creeks and try to keep 4 dogs off of them but i had the time of my life lol.

alot of hunters buy dogs. Dont make any less of a hunter than the next guy. Idk who yer talking about but i been working since i was thirteen and earned what i got. Everybody starts somewhere. Saved for a year to buy a female to breed to my dog. Some people have deep pockets most people work. This sport takes cash just like any other hobby you can spend as much as u want but if u dont get it u wasted money.

Yes.

A bad driver with a fast car won't always win in the quarter... a bad rider with a good horse will eventually ruin the horse... an idiot with good dogs will eventually ruin,,, or get them killed,,, also.

if a person with enough money buys himself some dang good dogs and knows just enough bout hog hunting. he will learn more as time and dogs go on. we all started somewhere and not kowing crap about hunting, but somebody showed us. some know more than others and some know just enough to get by. it dont take a rocket scientist to own good dogs and hunt them, it takes a lil give a damn and knowledge.

A newbie could pay someone to teach them. Good dogs plus bad hunter equals disaster

I can't see where someone's bank account has anything to do with their ability to hunt.

Probably just as many sorry hunters that are poor as there are rich ones.

You could give me a billion dollars and I won't win a heisman, perform brain surgery, fly fighter jets, or be the best hunter in the woods.
It has everything to do with education/dedication/exposure and talent.

Money does'nt make a hunter, Alot of time behind them dogs makes you a hunter.

Money just get a man in the woods faster.
