It seems that the TDHA and the Los Cazadores contests are going to be on the same weekend this year???

For the powers that be, someone may want to change some dates around on one of these. They're both very high turn-out contests... having them the same weekend will definately hurt the number of entries in each one.

Just something to think about...

I agree Mike, the TDHA contest has been the first weekend of March for years. Los Cazadores moved their date. They were told of the conflict early on and didn't see the need to change. TDHA had our location booked 6 months ago as allways.

I was just curious as there's been no public announcement on the TDHA contest yet.

I heard from a insider that they moved to beat the heat. I think Tdha might have hurt thier turn out with live hogs only.

TDHA contest will be the first weekend of March, catch and tie, live hog weigh in. "thats official"  Grin

We always start the promotion for the contest after the first of the year. We have a very good committee that has been working on the contest for several months and things are running a head of years past. We have had some new things to iron out regarding the live hog weigh-in, but rest assured we are good to go.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the weigh-in, its a great gathering of the top dog hunters in the state.

Thanks,

Paul,

Being that it's a catch and tie contest this year, does that mean it's no longer a hunt for the hungry?

The winners of the two contest should have a match that would be intesting.

Mike, that is correct. They don't want, or can no longer take field dressed feral hogs for the hunters harvest program. We have been fighting this for a couple of years now and with a change of directors at Hunters Harvest they have said they just can't legally take the meat.

We'll be donating Money instead of meat to the needy.

We'll also see how many can catch and tie for the cause.

I am sure the hogs can be sold to the meat packing facilities that send the hogs to Europe and that money be given to feed the hungry.

What about having game ranches come in and bid on the biggest hogs and get money that way?

Will they take the meat if it is not field dressed but cleaned at a meat processing facility?

If so there has to be a processor out there or college that will do it at a discount.

In the future maybe the state can used to subsidize the processing cost since the state will benefit from hogs being removed and needy families fed.

Yes it is, pigman hosted it last year but didnt do so well. This year I expect quote the weigh in from the two and I'm sure barefoot bob will be bringing in some bruisers as well. My only complaint is I better see a lie detector test this year as the rules are loose and cut hogs on in high fenced places are aloud. That being said, I will be entering again this year but caught and tie ran me off from hunt for the hungry

Well I like the catch And tie we will be at the tdha hunt. Hope all the money goes to feed the hungry. That would make it even better for us.

On the catch and tie do the hogs have to be brought in tied or can I bring them in just alive and in the trailer?  I guess my next question is how will you know I caught them with dogs vs just emptying a trap?  Catch and tie is not bad, the randy bumpers is done the same way I just always wondered how you could tell if they were dog caught or not.
