I will post pic when I get home, but Dr. Gregg in Commerce and his staff did a excelent job on his leg. They took the leg at the ball in the hip, so nothing will be weighing him down. Day after surgery he was outside and moving around like it haddn't happened. I'm excited to see what my 3 legged buddy will do if and when he goes back into the woods... Anyone ever seen a 3 legged hog dog? and if so pics? or stories? I would love to get the input of the board on this one. Thanks for your input guys.

Never owned one but have seen one on tv matter of fact it was on that pigman show I think he was a guy named keith dog. He looked fine on tv and I wanna say they said something bout it being his best strike dog. It was the episode of last years los casadores hunt.

My buddy has a dog that had to get his rear leg amputated and I can honestly say he is twice the dog he was and gets around good. Losing the leg seemed to loosen him up and he gained respect for the hogs instead of being so catchy. He left out the other day on his 3 legs and bayed at 1.7 miles.

Well guys, I pray that he gets out there and works again. He stays within 250-500 most of the time, but has taken off before too. I guess it depends on who (dogs) is in the woods with him. He likes following Zig around, and those two boys together get pretty ballzy and rough. I like having a good, gritty, short-range strike dog along on the hunt. That way, when I'm moving through the woods, and all the other dogs are out 1000yrds-1mile I have a good gritty dog close incase we walk up on anything. Not to mention, he is fast as all get out. I can't wait to get him back in the woods! Thanks for the input! Good to hear I'm not some mean guy that thinks a good three legged dog shouldn't be robbed of hunting because of such.

Here is Diablo... We woke him up, so he was upset. LOL!  He is really in great spirits considering everything he has been through. I would think that I have gone the extra mile for this guy as he did for us. So thank you Diablo! Hope to see you in the woods soon! LOL!  |

I had a dog when I was younger that we had to have his amputee the same way. It didn't hurt him any he kept chasin cars and was still fast. I don't think it'll hurt him any

Hope he get out there and hunts again! my buddy had a dog named bandit 3/4walker 1/4pit. Best med range strike i have personally ever seen. Anyways, he got cut on his back leg and it had to be removed then 4months later he RAM a hog over a mile and based him for nearly an hour before we got the cds there. Then last Feb five were shot on a hog by a HOG HUNTER and he was the only one who made it. he was shot in his only back leg! Well they got him fixed up and tried to keep him in the yard and he CLIMBED out and went down and slept outside the kennels  he even snuck into the bay pen and did his best to hop around Baying his a$$ off. He won't be running the river bottom anymore but still gets to go on mock hunts here and there....the best ones never quit |

This is what I needed to hear. I, with the help of my buddies because I am "crippled" right now, have done everything in my power to get him "back on his feet" lol. He is a great dog, and wants nothing more than to go hunting again. You can tell by the look on his face and how excited he gets when it's time for the rest to load up. I figure in a few months he'll be good to go.

We still run one all the time. Clinton is one of my best friends and we hunt together damn near every time we go to the woods. He owns the dog "Honey" that y'all have seen on the show and she has been on three legs for a long time. She caan still get around and is a hog finding wench! She is getting old now and we don't take her as much but she can still do it! Her lack of mobility is because of her age now not the 3 leg deal. You dog should be fine and I bet he rolls out and get her done! Good luck.
