Got a catahoula gyp about a month ago that was FAT, and I don't mean just a little fluffy, I mean OBESE. She was more or less a yard/house dog, and got all kinds of goodys all the time. I have completely cut out table scraps, and she is getting 1 cup of Sportmix Green bag twice a day, but is not losing any weight... Any ideas? She has got to lose some weight because it's giving her arthritis, and she really hates a pig, but is too big, and hurts to bad to be able to work one.

just like you or me diet alone won't work you gonna need to turn her loose to run or road her with ya atv . don't run her till she drops just a good mile or two a day to start . you want it to turn that fat and gut fat into muscle . can't be done by diet alone .

I'd suggest getting a run put together. get her a good heavy chain, put a swivel on both ends, and attach that to a 50-100 ft run. Put her on that for couple hours a day and let her eat her heart out. Start cutting back on her food intake a little too. Don't starve her, but a little less here and there won't hurt. JMO

Very easy fix...put her on a diet of raw chicken.  One chicken half in the morning and another in the evening.  You will see considerable changes in a few weeks.

If she doesn't start loosing it pretty soon you might take her to vet to have her checked out. My uncle had an Australian shepherd not long ago that he had the same problem with and found out the dog had a thyroid problem or something of the sort. But that dog was HUGE he looked like a hairy beach ball with legs and a tail

put your hiking boots on put down a few miles everyday. wont take long. if it runs off go the other way and wait. you can rest and the dog doubles its miles."old man trick".  or a run with a good roller and swivel."older smarter trick".
