us unemployment rate college degree 7.4% highschool degree 8.4%
I'd bet the employed people with degrees vs without degrees are paid way different.

This thread made me think about this rant about young people. It cracks me up. This isn't directed at ANYONE, its just funny to read.
http://crabbyoldfart.wordpress.com/2009/11/23/god-damned-know-it-all-young-people-make-me-furious/
Well like the article said if im old enough to vote, and i pay my own bills you should hear me out:)
Im willing to hear anyone at any age out. But being old enough to vote doesn't mean anything except that you are old enough to vote.
I only posted that to be funny. It could have been posted in any year. LOL When I was a teenager in the eighties when things in this country were in better shape, young people still agrivated old men. Im sure it is the same in any decade. It was just supposed to make you laugh.
Amen.

I second that SCHitemHard! Wine6978, you hit the nail on the head when you said, "See now I understand that you are a young adult, because I am not very much older than you. Something you will learn in the next few years, because trust me the difference in maturity from 20 to 23 is crazy."
.
Ca10j, My dad tried to drill that into my head for years, before I was a married father or had a degree, that I needed to not know so much, and listen more. I was a hard-headed young man then... I'm not a ton older now, but life sure MADE me grow up and LISTEN, and FAST!!! I still like to talk a lot though
, cause I get it from my mama, but I also now know to pay attention to EXPERIENCE. Because if it weren't for my father and his experiences and help, I don't know where I'd be today.
I said that I have a college degree, but I didn't say what kind. I only have an associates in Science, hoping to be able to finish a bachelors in business and computer information systems. My grandparents blessed me with enough money to get started, and I tried to finish paying for it... BUT it is too expensive. I unfortunately had to put that on hold and pursue real life. I tried to honor my grandparents by finishing this, but I fail short. So I decided to peruse it on my own time, under the wing of another individual, lets say Jimmy, who didn't graduate college nor did he go at all. Jimmy is a genius, and knows everything there is to know about computers, SELF TAUGHT. To make a long story short, Jimmy noticed I had driven my self as he did, and knew I had the passion. So Jimmy got a NEW job, and blessed me with a recommendation that landed me his previous decent job, without the degree that met the requirements, and I am blessed and lucky for that. Jimmy went on to a MUCH HIGHER paying job, with NO degree what so ever because of the experience he had. That is just proof that the degree doesn't mean EVERYTHING, and that knowledge and experience does. Now days when you look at job postings it says right next to requirements "or equal years experience". They found out from over the years of hiring people with degrees and NO experience it doesn't cut it. So all in all, I am working to better my life, without a, IMO, finished degree with as much life experience any 27 year old could hope to have. (and some I wish I didn't) word to the wise, some of these people on this board have some really good info to pass on; even if it is only their opinions on posts. Those opinions probably come from years of experience though, and thats something you nor myself has. Honestly, same as when my dad is "talkin' to me", I'm writing every opinion and thought down in my memory banks. I hope, one year way down the road, to be able to access that knowledge and experience to pass on like most on this board. This is a great site, and the people are awesome. All I'm saying is that you need to learn to value and appreciate everyones opinions, beliefs, and feelings because you may need them one day.
One of my favorite sayings is, "Your cup is too full, when you try and fill cup it will overflow... you must first empty cup!"

Well, I don't have any degree, and make a dang good living. I have worked my tale off to get where im at. I chose not to accept welfare, and hand outs. It always cracks me up when they send these "educated" engineers out here, that don't know their hind end from a hole in the ground. And have to be taught everything from us worthless uneducated folks. LOL.
Son, you've got a lot to learn yet. And as far as US country boys not surviving the city, well ive been to the Bronx and made it just fine. But let me ask you this, hows all that education gonna keep you alive if all the grocery stores shut down, and all the powers turned off? Drop a college educated city boy out in the wilderness, see how long he lasts.

AMEN!!!!! Can't be catching none of them there hogs is new york. (Grammatical incorrectness is intentional). I'm not knocking anyone for getting a college degree. I pray that my kids do. However, how many founding fathers of this country had a degree. The way I remember it, from what lil bit of book learnin I got, they were mostly under studies to someone that was smarter than them. Kinda like an apprentice. No different than modern day folks being a welders apprentice or something to that nature. Learning from somebody that's already mastered a trade.
I know hundreds of men that don't have a college degree that make more than enough. But that doesn't seem to be enough for you. You come from a "small empire". I've got my empire also. I have a chunk of land and a home that my wife and two kids can do as they please on. I've got my dogs in my back yard in kennels that I built myself. I go to bed every night and say my prayers to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (really don't care how you feel about this matter any more) for blessing me so abundantly. And their is a thousand folks on this site and 25million more across this nation that are the same as me. You can go be a one percenter with your "small empire" and just leave us the hell alone, we still gonna make.

This is where i get my chance to chime in thanks to TNhillbillys post. The only books the city folks need to bury their heads in will be titled:
*survival for dummies-edition 1
*survival for dummies edition 2
*how to find/process drinkable water
*Basic butchering of wild game
*building a shelter 101.
I could go on forever, but its the educated post turtles that are leading us into these trillion dollar debts that will cause the lights to go out,if you dont pay the power bill thats what will happen,no grocery stores or gas stations should make for a good start to get the ball rolling on the wild west situation yeeeeeee haaaaaw, bring it!!!

Well I know know there is no trying to give you friendly advice from another young perspective... You deff need an attitude adjustment. A lot of these guys are just trying to get a rise out of you because it shows your inexperience and age. Good luck with all that ca10j. Signing off!

If you want to talk hogs and dogs, then do so. If not, I'd suggest you move on down the road.
