Lol! Because you have been to college doesn't mean you believe everything your told there. Most colleges want you to make your own beliefs and choose your own paths. I can't say that I want to have to have a college degree to get a decent paying job, but that seems to be the case across the board. I will say, I don't have a PHD, but I do have a college education. I do not think or believe that I have been brain washed by any means. In fact, college opened my eyes and made me cherish the things that we all hold dear, our freedoms and beliefs! BUT you are deff entitled to your own opinion, and I respect that.
lol, yea, i know, but university learning is one of my favorite things to talk trash about.
tushay!!!
I think America has been faced with a lot worse and she always seems to triumph. The American people will stand proud and united as always. We as Americans have a duty to vote and to be active when it comes to public policy. I also believe that MY generation has taken a pro-active stand in voicing there opinions and taking the opportunity to vote. We have maintained a great deal of dignity and normalcy in our daily life's despite threats by well known terrorists. We have been wasting valuable resources, life's, and great minds to war efforts. These efforts have been long, drawn out, and not nearly as successful as we hoped they would be. We provide a great deal to the needy of the world and yet the worlds hands are still held high and open grasping for freebies from the U.S. Many people in the United States have forgotten what it means to be a HARD WORKING American.
Nowadays the piece of paper you get when you graduate college says a lot about a man and his chances of success in the real world. In the "good ole days" it was possible to make a living so to speak without a college degree. It is pretty clear that this is no longer the case. Im not flaunting and im not teasing, Im pointing our mere facts.
If the U.S is going to number 2 in your opinion and you have not voted on every piece of legislature that you had access to then consider it the fault of your own. You can expect your lawn to be cut if you dont cut it, you can expect a seed to grow if you dont plant it, you cant expect your children to want success if you dont want success, and you cant expect change if you dont fight for it. Old, young, republican, democrat, liberal, conservative we all need to voice our opinions in order for our country to be a true reflection of us. We need to understand certain legislative purposes and we need not pitty ourselves. If we work together there is nothing we cant accomplish. This has been proven by the American people time and time again.
For being well educated and well traveled you sure don't have your FACTS right.
I'm living proof that one doesn't have to have a college education to make a good living. Additionally, I've got a good friend that interviewed for a position a few years ago with the largest gas company in the US. He was going against 6 other applicants that all had degrees. None of them, my friend included, had any experience in the field. The guy without the degree got the job, and had rapidly moved up in the company. This wasn't in the good old days either, this was in 2008-2009.... BTW, that was just an example. I could spend all night typing examples that contradict you.
Now, I won't debate theology with someone, as that's very much a personal decision, and is different for everyone.
I'll just say, that at 20 years old, I thought I knew something.... The older I get, the more I realize that I don't know!

us unemployment rate college degree 7.4% highschool degree 8.4%
I'd bet the employed people with degrees vs without degrees are paid way different.

These are exceptions not the rule. Im not even going to argue this. The maturity level and the belief that education is not as important as i make it out to be is the reason other countries even have a chance to catch up to the U.S. You can bet your bottom dollar that when everything is taken from you, your education will not go anywhere, similar to life experience in a way. If higher education is not demanded of children these days then we can say for certain America has dim future. No amount of life experience can get you were a college degree can, unless you have CONNECTIONS. I see old people with tons of life experience pushing publix carts, and packaging my groceries

Have you ever considered that one's success is dependent of one's own efforts. Regardless of formal education.

Maybe, the problem is that we dont have enough jobs. Foreclosures are at all time highs this country is in trouble. Im glad you have gone to college Im going to twist my kids arms to go but it doesnt gaurantee them a job. I am older than you and i make a good living but i remeber when i was little and your mom stayed home. Thats almost impossible now, im lucky my wife doesnt have to work but there are alot of qualified people out there struggling. So please dont think a degree is a job because i have several people that work for me that have degrees they dont need to do this job. Im not mad at you though. You most certainly have the right to your oppinion. I dont think you have the right to talk about the good ol days because you werent there and trust me they were good. I made twice the money in half the time.

Yes but only to a certain extent. There are limits placed on those who chose to be "uneducated". If your end goal is success why would you choose to stack the odds against yourself instead of just ruffing out college. With so many people in America, and the population continuing to rise those lacking formal education will be forced to except lower paying jobs or similar jobs for less pay. Its the reality of the age. Being a man and working your way up ladders worked far more effectively in the "good ole days" , these days if your not college educated your handed a ladder full of barb wire and hot wire, the chances of you climbing that ladder without some crack is highly unlikely. The educated foe is handed a little giant ladder that allows him to climb effortlessly.

You know, the more ca10j posts, the more convinced I am that he really is missing out on alot- yes, education wise. Have you ever thought there's more to life than just an education?? Life experience AND an education COMBINED is what gets the job done nowadays. I am about to graduate with a Chemical Engineering Degree, and as someone who failed math my senior year of high school, alot of people didn't believe that I could get a degree, much less a Chemical Engineering Degree. So, where am I getting at? There are plenty of my peers on the job market with much better GPA's than mine. But you know what, they have their noses so far stuck in a book and rarely EVER get out to enjoy the REAL world, they don't have the people skills that it takes to work with others. So, to make my point, for you to say "no amount of life experience can get you where a college degree can," shows just how ignorant your outlook really is. And actually, it is quite embarrassing for someone like me to read. Don't get me wrong, I am very proud of my education, but I know that it is not something to flaunt such as you have, and yes, you are flaunting it, because with your attitude you, my friend are well on your way to being the one who packages groceries while you ramble on about a bunch of bull.

AMERICANS NEED FORMAL EDUCATION FROM HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS IF WE INTEND TO COMPLETE IN THE GLOBAL FOREFRONT IN TODAYS DAY AND AGE. OTHER COUNTRIES ARE PRESSING THE ISSUE OF EDUCATION AND THEY ARE NOT TAKING IT LIGHTLY, IF EVER THERE WAS A TIME TO STICK YOUR HEAD IN A BOOK THAT TIME IS NOW. I have seen death, i have seen sadness, i have seen happiness, i have been sick, i have been weak, i have been strong, i have lost faith, i have gained trust, i know what it is to doubt and i know what it is to grow up. Never judge a person by his age. You have no idea about others life experience, my life is ever changing and i have experienced a whole lot so far. It really ticks me off that some of you guys have a problem respecting young adults. I don't let anyone no matter how old treat me like im some kid with no life experience. In my experience not many adults like you have had the joy of meeting someone like me with enough guts to stand up for myself, my OWN beliefs based upon my OWN experiences, and enough brute to knock some sorry son of a gun life experience know it all off his feet

If you guys never assumed you wouldnt make asses out of yourselves. I understand education is just a single building block to success. I have worked a 9-5, i have volunteered for hundreds of hours in different medical facilities, i have helped peers through hardships, i have experienced my own life and i have functioned regularly and efficiently within society. For you to assume all i do is educate myself is ignorant and completely implies a lack of knowledge about the education system. All the help and guidance one needs to succeed is provided for at a young age in all public schools, only few will take advantage and broaden there horizons others will have a closed mind for ever.

See now I understand that you are a young adult, because I am not very much older than you. Something you will learn in the next few years, because trust me the difference in maturity from 20 to 23 is crazy. At least I have done a lot of growing in these last three years. Anyway something you need to learn is yes you do have an opinion and you are 20 years old so your an adult and your entitled to it, but buddy you also need to learn when to just be quite and listen to people with more age and experience under their belt. The only reason I am saying this to you is I was also a "strong willed" 20 year old man who had seen many things that most grown men never will, but if I would have just sat back and listened I would have not had to learn so many things the hard way. Coming from someone only a few years older than you, you just need to listen. You would be surprised how far that will take you!!

I take all this in good health. I also am a very good listener. I also prefer to listen rather then speak as i understand i know relatively little considering the wealth of knowledge the real world has to offer. At the same time you have to understand im not attacking or responding to anyone who replied to the initial post respectfully. I went of on a rage when the next five posts after mine said nothing about the topic and just undermined my views and opinions quite blatantly. Older people have a hard time admitting fault in my opinion. Some people here are about as mature ,educated and respectful as a 7 year old boy from the city. How you gunna act all childish, crack unnecessary comments and in the next breath try to act dignified and well experienced. You choose not to share your opinions but rather share your opinion about my opinion with each other. I came to this site with a respect that not many of you have lived up to. The wealth of knowledge i found here before joining had me in awe only to find out that a majority of this boards members are judgmental, and lack simply etiquette.

Im willing to hear anyone at any age out. But being old enough to vote doesn't mean anything except that you are old enough to vote.
I only posted that to be funny. It could have been posted in any year. LOL When I was a teenager in the eighties when things in this country were in better shape, young people still agrivated old men. Im sure it is the same in any decade. It was just supposed to make you laugh.
