I been working with my male ab he seen a couple of pigs and just chased them at first so I left he out of the fun and to watch well yesterday he was trying to get to them thru the fence so we had some young pups bay a small one up and cut him loose he didn't go around the gate he turned and moved the panel that was in his way I know a small pig isn't saying much but I was proud and have some questions on futher training do you just keep letting him catch bigger pigs as he gets more confident or leave him outside the pen some more until he just can't stand it all help is greatly appreciated thanks guys

Both. Work the pig sizes up a lil bit more each time or close to each time. And sometimes leave him outside while they bay. May take a lil while but hell turn it on it sounds like

I had this same problem a while back with a new prospect (70 pound ab) got her from a guy that said she doesn't catch she kills.. I had about a seventy pig cut her loose and she bayed NO CATCH WHATSOEVER until I put her on a rank sow about 250 pounds.. Got hit a couple times and she was on it.. Caught hog since then.. Took her on the first live hunt shes ever been on cut her loose she hauled arse to the bay and Hit hard! I'd recommend using a bigger pig like everyone's said he will be fine n will catch on or get whooped  Cheesy
Goodluck keep me posted please-Dylan

Whoa Cody. I'm a pit guy too but I can't say anything bad about an ab. I love mine. Shes a great dog. Great with kids and hell on hogs. (Hell on a feedbill too)  but ill put her against a pit any day.  Keep on and you'll wake up with a rotten in your yard Evil

lol a rotten would last long on this yard. I don't mind the AB on my yard. he only eats as much as my curs I'm just a big fan of a pit just cuz they got such a bad rap.

Cody ask Darrell about my two pits. By the size of Darrell's AB she eats a lot. No she is a very good looking dog. Every time I am around her she has a better handle on her.

I feed her 6-8 cups a day. I have a 4-cup measuring cup I use to gauge how much I feed.  I'm getting like Greg thou. Bout to get some lil cds. Lol. I like big catchdogs. My two pits are 60-70 lbs and Stella is 100 lbs and about a yr old. Ill never use anything but pits and abs. Glad the rotts are doing for u thou. I won't have one. Won't ever have a German sheppard either. I'm a bulldog guy to the bone. Cody and brs, y'all need to come hunt this nice open land down here with me. Catch a few then light the bonfire.
