Railroads crisscross Texas. Pay is pretty decent, and the benefits are better than average. They are always looking for people. Don't think you'll get rich quick neither, those days are over with. The government stepped in and put a stop to the working everyday and 16 hour days. Any other questions you can PM me.

Inspectors in plants make any where from 15/hr up to 65-70/hr dependin on the certs you get

Try to stay away from the plants. I work them when I have to but I hate them. Its about like being locked up. You cant do anything in there.

I have thought about doing a taxidermy class here lately myself,start out small then have something to keep me occupied with a little income for when i retire,if i started buying a couple of the tools at a time it wouldnt seem so overwhelming and im sure it wouldnt require a huge workshop for the basic animals.

if ur wanting to bank fast, try over seas. im just starting with mantech int n they are paying for certs for heavy wheel mech. it pays good working in iraq or afghanistan, but ur previous post said u were nvr hm workin oilfield. if ur in a small town, and looking to make real good money, its kinda like having your cake and eating too. it takes sacrafices as we all know. iv been gone to that part of the world since 2005. 05-09 wasnt realy by choice, the military said i had to go. now im making 130-160k a yr. there r some jobs that pay 200k+ a yr depending on ur certs. money is important and so is family, but there lays the choice for you to make.

I got with a company that payed for and helped me get my CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsements. People always lookin' for a trucker with all these endorsements. Pays pretty good. Can't work too many hours or DOT will shut ya down. I'm just doin' local hauls and home every night. Never saw myself in a truck but now I'm set for life, as long as i'm physically able

Yeah charles your right my grandad was making around 220000 a year. He was doing 6 month and year contracts. I was trying to find something to do over there but my wife said "i dont think so" so that got shot down real quick. If your singal and like mobey go for it.

I been thinkin bout doin soon as I'm 21. My dad drives a day cab with a van trailer and he don't really get paid much. Does havin those endorsements help the pay quite a bit? |

Those endorsements are high responsiblity so yeah they're gonna pay a lil better and they are mostly oil field. Seen jobs lookin' for drivers starting out $22+ an hr but you gotta put in a couple years of 14-15 and hr jobs to get your experience on paper then no prob findin' a job |

I'm with dwhd39. I do inspections in the plants and make really good money. If you have no experience you start around $14 to $18 depending on the company you start with. After that its really up to you how much you want to put into it. The more cert. the more cash. You can travel or get an in house job.

OCD I'm in the same boat, I have been trying to get into the oil field but haven't had any luck. I have faxed, E-mailed resumes made phone calls and nothing I also tried posting my resume on rigzone.com and they wouldn't let me post due to lack of experience. Don't know what else to do...

You need to make a roadtrip then to the Carrizo area then they are hiring like hotcakes. Don't ever become a teacher/coach though people have lost the ability to teach their kids how to work for something. Like a grade.

Do you know anything about computers? If you know anything at all, they offer short crash courses that you can get microsoft certified in a specific area. Those jobs pay great, and the classes can be bought and watched at home... Then you pay 100-200 bucks per test till you get you cert. Check out compTIA certifications. Or like SCHitemHard said... They have crash courses in that fields as well, and you could have a radiology job or x-ray tech posistion from a 1-2 year course. JMO hope it helps...
