Berry farm is good or a couple places along the river for free camping.  I think Kelley Creek or Big Creek Camp Grounds may be horse friendly but the hunting is limited without a boat.

Theres Mud Lake right off basset creek and and the Picnic Tables is located on Basset Creek also Glen's mill is on the River right down from Basset Creek.  Excellent place for primitive camping and hog hunting.

There is an old road through Glens mills that goes several miles into the woods along the river and then there is the old levee that runs through alot of that area that would make for easy riding.

There's hogs in the bottoms but they've been dogged a little too much.  They definetly like to run.  Last time I was down there the water was up so much it would've been better to have a boat.

If your gonna hunt the west - southwest end of Wright Patman, I would make sure you scope out the place and a few maps of the area before turning dogs loose ( especially long range dogs ) ...

Alot of the Corp land runs into private land and management land... Several of the private land owners are known to be not so friendly...

Also if you go in on Mud Lake, if your dogs cross the river, either be ready to swim or make a long trip around to get them... Its a long walk back to the truck and atleast 30 - 45 minutes to drive around...  Alot of private cabins and leases across the river...

I havent hunted much of the east - northeast side, but ive always been told not to go without a boat, or you may be in trouble..  Wink

Pretty much any area you hunt up there is gonna have alot of water... alot more than what shows up on the map... ( runoffs, levys, etc... )

If you have dogs with any kind of bottom ( because those hogs will leave the country ) , make sure you have a boat handy,
especially if you are driving from a good ways off... If not, you may be up a creek, literally...  Wink
