Circle C brought me about a 200-225# boar with 2-3 cutters he got out of a trap last weekend. I put him in my pen and gave him a week to calm down. A couple friends came over today and brought some young dogs to work in the pen, they wernt doing much so I got an olde dog from my kennel and put her in and that ole boar was workin her over good, I went in to get her out and I got worked over pretty good and pretty fast it seemed like it was over befor it started that big ole boar knocked me off my feet and got on top my legs and cut my leg pretty good I did my best to kick him off for a while till pepper grabbed him on the leg and I was able to make my gettaway. It was all pretty funny, I guess I was lucky. I learned a lesson today, dont under estimate the power of a hog.

JML,

Just wait until tomorrow evening when I drop of the other two that were caught this weekend. What they lack in size, they make up for in fight.  I don't know that I have ever seen a boar so pissed at the world as the one from Saturday night.

Mandi thinks she needs some practice suturing and wants to know if she can come over Grin

i feel your pain... i had a pretty close encounter myself not too long ago.  they move a lot faster than ya think.  hope it heals up well.  all i can say is wash the chit out of it  and use plenty of Betadine.

Hey that leg looked sick.  Undecided   Probably keep some campho phenique on it or something..... I like granulex for the dogs, but imagine it would burn a little.

Cheers

i used that betadine (cheap wal-mart version)  a couple times a day on my cut and it worked well.  i washed it with anti-bacterial soap, then patted it dry and then applied the betadine.  it's gonna take a while to heal though.  seemed like mine healed slower than any other wound i've ever had.

That right there is automatic trip to see the sawbones I don't like docs either but when it comes to what hogs eat and what can build up on they're tusks there are some bacteria even the more through cleaning ain't going to stop. Go see the doc and get some hi-power stuff to nip it in the bud
