The other day my wife and I were out checking a hog trap and we decided to take back roads going home. We came around a corner and I said "What the heck? That is the ugliest dog I have ever seen!" When we got closer it was a pit pup, about 2-3 mo old, starving, covered in fleas, and with a huge wormy belly. I got out and she ran over to me, stood on my boot and put her head between my legs. Needless to say, she went home with us. She is starting to look like a healthy pup now with a little feed, wormer, and flea medicine.

I said all that to say, I hope none of our ethd folks dump dogs. But if you do, please stop. Either have the mercy to put unwanted dogs down or find them a suitable home. Regardless of whether they are of any use to us or not, dogs are a living thing that deserve the respect to be either taken care of properly or humanely dispatched. Another good reason to not dump dogs is that it is a felony.

That being said, out of 10 stray dogs, one is my best strike dog, and all but 3 have turned out to be either usefull in the woods or the baypen. I'm not talking about just would bark at a hog, but get down and flat hunt, bay or catch swine. So sometimes someones trash can be someone elses treasure.

Let's be responsible and give hog hunters a reputation for solving problems, not creating them!

But im with you on that, i cant stand to see a dog, especially a pup dumped out...  Angry

Levi, that may wind up being the best catch dog you ever owned.
Sounds like she'll be willing to do anything you ask of her in time.

If you'll dump a dog, then you should be charged with a felony. Not much chaps my rear more than seeing that....it's just plain wrong.

Nothings worse than dumping dogs being a hired hand on a farm I have picked up a lot that were well mannered and then there are the ones that chase cows but after having two bottle calves I found about dead and fed them all winter killed by dumped out dogs there should be no mercy on ppl that do that cause its not my job to do what's right cause I only have one choice to pick from when they chase cows

I found 3 stray dogs down a backroad not too far from my pens 2 of them are black catahoulas and one is a pit/lab cross they have been so beaten that they wont come closer than 5 ft to me. i drove out to find them ysterday and they were there still skin and bones. i stopped and looked at them for a minute and drove off. then a guy followefd me into town and flagged me down and told me very rudely not to feed those dogs because they bay his cows, and that he was going to shoot them. i can see why hes mad about the cows but come on i didnt even feed them and he was a complete @$$hole this all could have been avoided if someone wouldnt have dumped them!
