Ok so lets just say i have a redbone gyp thats in heat and i decide to breed her to my bmc, both proven dogs but id like to try a cross.. Well then the guy that lives beside me has this male cat. and he digs into her pen and breeds her too. And the pups come out some looking like the bmc and some looking like the cat. What do you call them? Bmc x redbone and the other ones cat x redbone?? Im just curious as to what yall think. Ive seen old yard dogs get bred before by different male dogs and the pups come out looking like both males.. So all opinions are welcome.

You can go ahead and call them open, I know that much. Don't get wrapped up in all that, if you wanted to try the cross, try it and see where it takes you, and cull hard. People put labels on dogs 9 times outta 10 for the dog trade.

A litter can have more than one sire but each pup will only have one sire and share one sires genes.

That is exactly right and if your that worried about it you could have them checked via dna to see who the sire is. I would just call them dogs and cull the ones that didn't work and hunt the ones that did. |
