I've owned culls in both breeds and mixes too. Just shop for a hog dog that hunts like you want and you'll come out way ahead!

I think if you got good dogs that are finding hogs you might want to rethink what you are doing.  The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence.  Dont know how much time you have invested in those spotted dogs that is a key to me .

Good an aswer as you can get on this one. Find a line of dogs that get it done and what ever color they are will be your favorite.

You're putting to much emphasis on the breed on not the dogs themselves.  There's BMC's that hunt exactly same as the catahoulas, whether short range, long range, cold nosed, rough, straight catch, or whatever else.  They'll always be dogs from all breeds that do it the same way, you just have to decide what you want and look for a dog that hunts that way.  The dog could be Purple with pink stripes, but if he does what you want, that's what matters.

if u got a breed that works for you. why change? iv seen where cats cost more than some bmcs. i bought several foundation dogs and spent $8,600 in 6 dogs and when i breed them, my price will be $150ish each. you can get good dogs that will be great dogs or culls for a lot less than what i paid for. hunt what works for you, not hat you hear about a certain breed catagory.

Listen to what he says. If more people thought like this there would be a lot less culls out there it seems.
