Hey guys i'm new here to the site! I live over here in louisiana and have a 1 year old lacy dog! He has been an excellent blood tracker this year but here is the problem i'm having! I'm lookin to see if anyone has a bay ben close to me to run my lacy on a good hog or with other dogs to show him a thing or two! Here is his problem! He has been on hogs and was doing great as a bay dog but we went on a call about a shot pig that they couldn't find at 8 months old he found the hog and it was only 70 lbs but still standing well after tracker noticed the hogs weakness it didn't take long he flipped that lil sucker and killed him now ever since then he has no respect for any size hog! I would like to get him to respect hogs and bay again instead of putting his teeth on on the hog and going for the kill just Incase while Blood tracking he comes up on a huge mean one that could hurt him bad! He is only 41 lbs but fast as **** and Ive seen a hog fling him in the air and he hit the ground and just go right back in after the pig just to get thrown around again!  |

welcome onboard...lots of good stuff on here and you can learn quite a bit just by reading... Well, that lacy of yours is naturally a gritty dog even though his first experience with a hog he thought he killed that 80 pound pig...and that does't help to tone him dowm.  Like you said he needs a bay pen with a nice sized boar that has his bottom tusks trimmed back so that he can teach your dog some respect but not really hurt him to bad...my feeling is that he will be very gritty but he might learn to look out for himself a little more. IMO a gritty dog can be made to respect a hog but eventually his nature will kick in...I have seen some super gritty little lacy's before and he might be one of them... |

From a fellow newbie, welcome. My lacy gyp is sorta the same, she gets her butt kicked but goes back in time and again in a bay pen. More heart than brains I guess...
Maybe a muzzle on the lacy and a big pig wout cutters?

Thanks so much for the advice guys! I just don't have the place to take him that has hogs anywhere close to me!
Just to answer your questions about where i got him from! I got him from a breeder in southeast texas her name is CYNTHIA JOHNSON!

He thinks he is bullet proof and about 50 feet tall! LMAO now i have to admit it was very cool watching him attach a 6 point buck this year and he did bring that deer down to the ground couldn't quite kill it by himself but he brought him down and i finished the deer off! |

A few more pics he is a big time momma's baby! One reason why i didn't want him to get hurt if he comes accross a big pig in the wild! Our track record this year is this  now he did have a bad run in with a doe deer this year that kicked him and paralyzed him for 2 weeks from the back hip down! Cost a 1400 dollar surgery to just to get him walking again but he is better then ever now and i believe faster! deer 18 found for 24 tracks hogs 7 found for 7 tracks and tracked a coyote i shot! |

It's my ole lady's fault lol this was what happen when I left for work this morning! One thing we never do is spoil our hunting dogs! Wife would kill me if she knew I out this online rotflmao  |
