Sounds like you have my luck. Is she barkin on track? Sounds to me like she is out huntin and that would be the main thing I was worried about. I always look for my young dogs, pups to trash. there are a bunch of holes you need to fill in before ppl can start giving you good advice. I wouldn't count her out yet.

Yes she barks on track and she's hunting!! I'm new to the sport so don't really know if I can break her from these bad habits. Should I keep trying by herself or go on the group hunts?

shock collar does wonders for trashing and if used properly can quiet one down on being open on track. I had a dog that would only open on track on trash, so if thats what she's doing you can kill two birds with one stone.

If she is barking on trail she might quit, but probably not. A shock collar should help with the trash problem.

At this point I see no reason to start over from what little info you are giving. I would give her some more time, especially if she is getting out and hunting well.

Thanks for the encouragement! Gonna try a cheap collar that's all I got. Anyone ever heard of soaking a dog in diesel then turn out on a deer?

not till you mentioned it....

i really wouldn't try that. you'd likley be money ahead to just buy a new dog for what it would cost to "soak" that one in diesel.

not to mention i don't see that being very a effective form of trash breaking...

good luck....

Only soak the ones you intend to light on fire. It gives the meaning "burning the woods up a whole new outlook" laugh

If she is running deer she will probably run a hog if you get her broke and focused in on pork.
Also don't get frustrated cause she didn't go right out and find you a hog on the first few times you took her. Gotta put some serious time in them on top of having natural drive.

If she continues running deer, not baying hogs and barking every step after alot of heavy hunting......
