Here is something I recently came across. Sounds like a joke to me, and more hassle than it is worth. I would much rather see an organized network of buying stations that pay by the pound on a live hog like there is in TX than what this bill proposes. Sounds to me like you are at the mercy of the county on this one. Plus we hunt multiple counties, and it aint worth 10 bucks to drive all over in order to collect.

STATE OF OKLAHOMA

2nd Session of the 53rd Legislature (2012)

HOUSE BILL 2209 By: Cannaday

AS INTRODUCED

An Act relating to agriculture; authorizing county commissioners to offer a bounty for feral swine; requiring proof of killing; requiring affidavit filed with county clerk; setting forth contents of affidavit; directing county clerk present affidavit and proof of killing at scheduled meeting of board of county commissioners; requiring board conduct audit and remit bounty to applicant; providing for codification; and providing an effective date.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 6-613 of Title 2, unless there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
A. The commissioners of any county may, in their discretion, offer a bounty not to exceed Ten Dollars ($10.00) for each feral swine killed within the limits of their county.
B. Before payment of bounty provided in subsection A of this section, the applicant shall exhibit and furnish to the county clerk the lower jaw, including tusks if present, of the feral swine killed. The applicant shall also subscribe and make oath in an affidavit before the county clerk of the county in which the feral swine was killed, setting forth that the feral swine was killed in the county of application, providing the date of the killing, providing the name of the person who killed the feral swine, stating that the lower jaw, including tusks if present, which is produced is the lower jaw, including tusks if present, of the feral swine killed, and that no bounty has been received or paid for the killing of that feral swine.
C. The county clerk shall retain the affidavit and lower jaw, including tusks if present, until the next regular meeting of the board of county commissioners, who shall count the lower jaws and burn them, and the board shall audit the claim and order a warrant drawn upon the county treasurer for the bounty in favor of the applicants.
SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2012.

Dont think anyone will participate with the price of most hog buying stations running around 30cents per lb.

x2.. even if we didnt have buying stations, i dont think i would go through all that trouble for 10 bucks!!

But then again Randy, you could take that 10 bucks and get your dogs micro chipped to make them worth more when you sell em!!  Grin

I heard there was a $10 bounty over in Fayette County, Tx.. The turn in much easier and similar to many coyote bounties. You have to turn in their ears together. You cut all the way around the top of their skull and both ears and the turn those in..

Not bad if you trap 10 stripers and 10 shoats though, they didnt say anything about the size of a hog. not a bad way to make some cash if you cut the jaws off all those tiny trapped hogs and still take your bigger hogs to stations or high fence.
