The litter of BMC pups I have... Someone was suppose to come pick them up last weekend  and they were going to give them their shots i asked if they wanted me to they said no they failed to show within 4 days these dogs have gotten skinny, not holding anything down. Still getting around just really slow some of the pups are having bloody discharges.. I've lost one so far. I need help I've given them a shot of seven in one today and hope they will pull through! What is it parvo? Or worms? Thanks dylan

U got parvo brother. I hate say it, but spend the money on some .22cal n do what needs to b done. It sucks, but why make them suffer? I had 2 i saved from parvo n i got about 4hrs of sleep through out the day n a lot of iv bags, plain yogart n sardines. I lost the nxt litter from it. Once the deed is done, take a chit load of bleach and spray the entire area were the pups hav been. Once its in the ground, its nearly impossible get rid of it. Sry for ur luck, but iv been there 3x already since 2007

Sounds like parvo or corona virus...parvo tends to give them bloody Diarrhea more than corona does. Corona virus has very similar symptoms but usually won't kill. I had two pups that had parvo couple months ago they were 11 weeks old, I gave them enemas every 4 hours, shots of distilled water in there muscles and antidiarretics..they pulled through after two days. Parvo has 95% mortality rate.

I'm going to start something here but anyone that says to shoot them don't want to take the time and effort to save them.  Kill ratio is closer to 33 percent if the pup is well taken care of.  Get you a lactated ringer some liver baytril and pedia sure.  The big killer of parvo is dehydration.  Give them 40 to 60 cc of the lactated ringer under the skin every hour or 2 if you can raise up the cuff of their neck and it stays up they are dehydrated if it goes down pretty fast they are not too dehydrated.   I like at the top of the shoulder for the shot.  Pedialite works also but the pediasure has some nutrients in it.  I give 1 to 11/2 cc baytril a day sometimes a hair over.  It is a high amount for a pup but.....   The liver we cut up into small small pieces and mixed with the pediasure.  Good to get some yogart or probiotics to get good bugs back in their tummyy when they start holding stuff down.  If they are worth it don't shoot them you can save at least some if you put a little effort into it.  Also pm tinytexascowgirl she has saved a few also.  I'm only on 3 since started this all lived but lost several before I knew all of this.  Vet cost me idk how much for dead pups but with this I am 3 for 3.

Well purebreed ur job must b very understanding on u not comin to work, but mine company woulda fired me for eithr sleepin at work or not showin up at all. I guess with a whole litter to save, u must be some kinda super vet. Do u fly around in tights and acape with ur doctor bag full of iv bags? A couple pups are easier than a whole litter inless the litter is just 2-3. Before spoutin off that i dont wanna put the time in effort into it, then i guess u didnt read the entire post, just what u wanted to read. I value my dogs more than humans and thats ALL humans. I put more care and effort into my dogs than i do my marriage. My dogs come first before u or anybody else.

Lol I did read it all and well.....    Funny thing my wife thinks I'm pretty durn sexy in my tights but they are actually underarmor cold gear.  No have not done a whole litter but it only takes seconds to give a shot.  And yes I do go most places with a iv bag they are handy to have for every thing from flushing wounds to rehydration heck I have even drank some one day.  If the litter is worth it it is a waist to shoot them when they have a better than not chance of living if caught soon enough.

if they are already blowing blood out their butts, its 80-100% chance its to late. i had 3 come down with parvo. 1 was blowing blood already, i went ahead and put her outa her misery and the other 2 started showing signs 3 days later. i had already started them on iv, pedialite, yogurt and sardines for iron replacement. i saved 2 outa 3. the sec litter i had, all 4 started showing signs within a day of each other of being lethargic and not eating, so i did what worked with the first 2 and kept them alive for 5 days and then they started dying off 1 by 1 and in 2 days all had died, i even upped the amount of fluids and yogurt bc they were younger.i dont really think i would want to see a grown man running around in tights, no metter if they are under armor cold weather.  Grin . needless to say, i sprayed the whole yard down and tilled it up and sprayed it again and didnt have anymore issues, even after i moved. i do the same with my iv bags, i tote them around 99% of the time too and keep them in the tck or boat incase the dogs or myself need an iv, especialy in the summer months. do what you can to save them, but its 99% an uphill battle with limited chances of living. choose a couple and put more efforts in them than the others, but try them all. good luck. ur in for a long haul

i don't use the laciaied ringers myself i use a product called resorb for calves . it's glucose w/ vitamins and electrolites . just load em up under the loose skin around the neck till it bulges . and when the body absorbs it load em up again .

We had a litter of 10 come down with parvo and we only lost two pups. As soon as we noticed that a pup had the symptoms, we started the whole litter on antibiotics. The first pup to come down with it died and then we lost a pup the next day. I would give them 1cc twice a day and no food but plenty of water. When a pup would go down and  quit drinking, I would give it an enema of water. If they were too sick to get up and move around, I put them in a cool dark place to sleep. After day three of being really sick, they started feeling better. It took a little while to bring their weight back up. I didn't feed them anything because parvo makes them shed the lining of their intestines and I didn't want to further irritate their gut.

Im deffinately no vet but I felt that they would most likely die of dehydration or a secondary infection due to shedding the lining of the intestines. That is why I treated with water and anti biotics. The cool dark place to sleep was to keep their stress levels at a minimum. I wish you the best of luck no matter what you decide to do.

I've culled one lastnight cause i cant see a pup suffer but i seperated all my other dogs away from these pups that are sick i hope the others pull through id really like to see how they turn out!

Dylan, are you positive it's parvo? If not bring a couple to the vet to find out exactly what your dealing with. You can do the doctoring yourself but you would Know for sure what it is. I had a litter get real sick overnight. Their eyes were glazed over and they couldn't hold their heads up. They were passing bloody stool and dehydrated. I took a couple to the vet and it turns out they had whipworms. The wormer I was using didn't kill whip worms. The vet was sure it was parvo until she checked them out. They were eight weeks old. If I wouldn't have brought them in I would have been trying to treat parvo and probably ended up loosing them. If it is parvo, as T colt said Tiny Texas posted awhile back how to aggressively treat them. Maybe she will chime in.  Good Luck with the pups and keep us posted.

Just my .02  Usually with parvo the pups will be lethargic as well as having the diarrhea. It could possibly be cocsidiosis like Halfbreed said or it could be a very bad case of worms. There is another virus that is going around also. This virus has pretty much the same symptoms as parvo but it is not parvovirus. I would get at least one to the vet in order to figure out exactly what I was dealing with. If it is cocci, the vet will probably give you albon for it. Cord and sulmet also work to that cocci. I wouldn't worry too much about the pups not having their shots. I have raised many pups without them ever having their so called "puppy" shots.
