When the tailgate drops the excuses usually start!

Had a great hunt yesterday with Nick (SHSU11), Bryan (stick-n-move), Jacob, and Austin.

Caught nothing but big hogs and managed to crash the clown cart to top off the day! Word to the wise.....Dont let Nick drive! Just keep him on the horse! Between him and the horse, at least one will use their brain when while chasing a big hog!!!

Had a big running boar try and cross an open field us about 1.5 miles from were the dogs started him. They found him just a few hundred yards away from where we were tieing a big barr we had just caught. I took off with a catch dog but he was running "hell bent for leather" soon after the dogs had found him. He was one of those kind that wasn't going to stay bayed for nothing or nobody!
About a mile from the race, Nick caught up with me on the Ranger so I loaded up my catch dog and we took out. We finally caught up to Jackob who was on his horse close to the hog. The hog had made it to a thicket on a creek so Nick and I took the other side of the creek from Jacob just in case he broke out our way. Sure enough the boar broke out a few hundred yards ahead of us up a slight hill and the down across a flooded open field toward another creek. That boar had a place to go and the dogs were way behind trying to track him through the thick stuff he had just left on the creek!
NOTE TO SELF:.....This is when I should have just jumped for it!!!!!!!! I think Nick had blood in his eyes at this point! His driving made the Dukes of Hazard look like box car derby racers! No joking!!!!!!!! I cant descibe the look in his eye but it reminded me of a pissed off Curly Joe from the three stooges.
I was hollering at him to slow down and he just kept going faster!!! I was sure we were going to drive off into a washout coming off that hill into the flooded open bottom but we didn't! We made out just fine and was turning the hog a little but then we hit the flooded field! It was like a ride in a water park!!!!!! Water!!!!! Tones of it! A complete and total deluge!!!!
I dont know how we managed but we made it to the hog right as he was about to enter the thicket at the creek.
We hit a dry patch of ground while Nick had his foot stuck in it during a turn and things got Western!!!
I knew what was about to happen and tried to step out of the buggy but it was too late and was catapulted over the Ranger and sufficiently body slammed a few yards away on my back and left shoulder.

Thanks Nick! It cost me dang near a whole day of my life and almost $700 for a Doctor to tell me nothing was broke but Im going to be sore as hell for a few days!!!! Stay on the horse next time buddy!!! lol

Disclaimer: No animals were injured during this stunt......just us clowns!

Stick-n-move's Ranger after Nick drove it!

Nick and the ride he should have stuck with!

A few pics from the rest of the hunt.

Nicks last 3 buffalo hunts:

1.) Broke down truck at Big E's store for hours after they got back!

2.) Marshall and I went with him last time, he got his truck stuck five times that day. Pulled him out with wheeler and Ranger everytime.

3.) this disaster with Allen Smiley

Great little hunt guys, not the first time I've seen flipped buggies! Good looking hogs!!!

I'm liken the looks of the setup on the front of the four wheeler.  Is there any way you could get me some pictures of it.  I would like to build something like it for the front of my prowler.

No amount of wishing will make that happen.  It is an ART to be able to do the things you do!!  I will have to settle with just being an average driver and leave the professional driving to you OL BUDDY!!!

Hey Ben, that dog didnt quit work out and got culled. Looks like I ended up with the dude of the litter. One thing I will say about her is that once she got in on a race, she was hooked until the hog was caught.

Nick needs something that has the speed of a riding mower. A horse might even be a little too fast for him.

Wow looks like fun to me. Hope everyone is safe. How is all the dogs doing.

The dogs did good Chance. We did have a problem with the last barr we caught though. The dogs bayed it in a big 4 foot culvert to start with. The hog turned to run out the other side of the culvert but half way through he  changed his mind and turned around. He managed to wreck my Persy dog and one of stick-n-moves dogs that followed him in. Culverts are a bad deal I guarantee!! A big hog can really wreck some dogs in those things.

Nick needs something that has the speed of a riding mower. A horse might even be a little too fast for him.

Bryan, I was thinking about pulling the mower deck off my old Cub Cadet and rigging up a dog box on the back for Nick to use. He should be fine on that thing since it tops out at about 4 mph! lol
